A Moment Of Silence Lyrics

Review The Song (9)Print the Lyrics
A moment of silence, please, for those who never get the chance
They show up to the party, but they're never asked to dance
The losers, the liars, the bastards, the thieves
The cynicists, the pessimists, and those that don't believe in nothing

I never met a loser that I didn't see eye-to-eye with, I declare
I stare into your eyes
But you look right past me into the air
What's it like to stand in your shoes?
To have never felt the belt of somebody's abuse?
I take the bottle and I tip it to all my heroes that have passed
Alas, you have left us, but your stories they will last
Uninspired by the recruiting call
Independent we stand
Independent we fall

So tell me: how long do you think you can go before you lose it all?
Before they call you bluff and watch you fall?
I don't know, but I'd like to think I had control
At some point, but I let it go and lost my soul
Sit tight, but the revolution's years away
You're losing faith and I'm running low on things to say
So, I guess I have no choice but to regurgitate
The tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite
Oh! To have died that night, I realized it wouldn't last
Our days were numbered and the reaper tipped the hourglass
The final mayday of our sinking ship had come and passed
Oh! To the west, you don't know what it is you're running from
And everybody's laughing loud
Your last chance to make your mother and your father proud

Oh, oh, oh...

A moment of silence, please, for those who never get the chance
They show up to the party, but they're never asked to dance
The losers, the liars, the bastards, the thieves
The cynicists, the pessimists, and those that don't believe in nothing

They said "a pox,
Upon your house,
Upon your family and everyone you ever knew
And everyone you'll ever meet"
I bet they think we wish we joined when we could
But we do what we want, we don't do what we should
Now, everybody's laughing, 'cause they're thinking they're in on something I don't get
Don't forget
I connect and I read every word you said
Like a child who believes he was wronged
If you hate me so much, then stop singing my songs

So tell me: how long do you think you can go before you lose it all?
Before they call you bluff and watch you fall?
I don't know, but I'd like to think I had control
At some point, but I let it go and lost my soul
Sit tight, but the revolution's years away
I'm losing faith and I'm running low on things to say
So, I guess I have no choice but to regurgitate
The tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite
Oh! To have died that night, I realized it wouldn't last
Our days were numbered and the reaper tipped the hourglass
The final mayday of our sinking ship had come and passed
Oh! To the west, you don't know what it is you're running from
And everybody's laughing loud
Your last chance to make your mother and your father proud

Oh, oh, oh...

Review about A Moment Of Silence

Amazing Song | Reviewer: Sarah | 1/17/09

I absolutly love this song. I have just discovered the band and can not stop listening to it. Amazing band, amazing Song. My new favorite. It makes me really want to get to know the not-so-popular kids now because this song is right- after this its the losers and the geeks that will get somewhere in life. They will not be as egotistical as the rich popular kids that I know. My new favorite song from my new favorite band from my new favorite Ska.

thinking song!! | Reviewer: shyla | 4/15/08

This song has many different meanings to many different people u can take the side of the popular kids you know they will always be remembered for thier good looks n charm or there sarcasm and jokes! Then u look at the losers the liars, bastards and thieves n it realy makes sense because withought this song how would u remember them all. Anyway when i herd this song it made me remember all the good times i've had with everyone I left behind!!!

uhm.. good work tom.. talented person and wrote all the songs in keasbey nights album so it means he have the right to sing it.. catch 22 is great but they don't have respect.. now, i like streetlight because of kalnoky..

good work..

huh | Reviewer: rj | 7/5/07

this song was edited, it was sung, rite before tom quit atch 22, he created streetlight manifsto, he first sung this with them, the"if u hate me so much then stop singing my songs" is because he wanted catch 22 2 stop laying his songs,he created befro streetlight manifesto, but sung after... listen to A MOMENT OF VIOLENCE its kinda like a remake

Great | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/6/07

It's kinda a slow song, but I love the rhythm.. the lyrics are great and make you think, and well.. It's a good song for when you just need to think, imo.

A different song from streetlight... | Reviewer: chris | 6/19/07

Lyrics in this song are just phonnemenal. Instrumently the song is very catchy and the calm beat compliments the singing and instruments.

"so tell me: how long do you think you can go before you lose it all?"

"If you hat me so much then stop singing my songs!"

I know that the line "If you hate me so much then stop singing my songs" is about Kalnoky's relationship with Catch 22.

cool | Reviewer: eric | 4/20/07
