On the first part of the journey he ecountered the empty rhetoric of religion "fly with a buzz and sky with no clouds). The spiritual path is a desert at first then his skin begins to turn red on the second day from spiritual inspiration .... which later opened his eyes to see the beauty of the desert which turned to a river bed. A very beautiful song, hard to imagine, he composed when he was only 19. Lead singer Dewey Bunnell wrote this when he was 19. He based the images in the lyrics on things he saw while visiting the US. This was originally titled "Desert Song." (thanks, Dave - Phoenix, AZ) This was the first single for America. They moved to the US a year later, after this became a hit. "Horse" is slang for heroin. Some radio stations refused to play this because they thought it was about drugs. The band claims it is not. But for a long time it was (And possible still is) the most overplayed song of all time. Therefore, after hearing it nine-thousand times, it does indeed gets old.
