"A Fine Frenzy is a blend of sounds and influences. Where there's Ella, Aretha and Louis, there's also Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Aqualung and Keane" HARP Magazine

A Fine Frenzy is the music of 22 year-old Alison Sudol.

Born in Seattle to dramatic-arts teacher parents, Alison moved to Los Angeles at the age five. With her newly single mother, Alison moved frequently around the city. She developed a strong love for the fantastic literary worlds of CS Lewis, EB White, Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens, while becoming a passionate author in her own right.

Alison also immersed herself in classical music, Motown, Aretha Franklin, swing bands, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Louis Armstrong, the Beatles, Technicolor movies and classic 1950's television.

After teaching herself to play piano, Alison increasingly invested her internal narratives into song form. She found solace in the melodic melancholia of new global British bands Aqualung, Radiohead, Coldplay and Keane, etc... She was also moved by the diatonic minimalism of Philip Glass and the transportive allure of Icelandic music (Bjork, Sigur Ros.) Inspired, Alison developed the sound of A Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to reach around the world.

A Fine Frenzy has recently been introduced to me by a very close girlfriend. I love the sound, the power, the emphasis of Alison's voice. She is both beautiful and talented - her music is similar to Dido's music, in both beauty and meaning. Each and every song by A Fine Frenzy has meanings that are different to every individual. These songs grip your attention and are heartfelt deeply within the soul. The power of this music is absolutely astounding, and impossible to put into words. My favorite song is Rangers, and it has both deep meaning, as previously mentioned, and a beautifully crafted melody. Definitely the type of singer you can listen to hours on end, day after day, without getting bored or annoyed. Bravo!

i discovered a fine frenzy one late night on VH1's "nocturnal state." Alison's singing and piano skills are so awesome and soul-stirring, that i had to buy "almost Lover" the next day on iTunes. I've listened to it only about 1,000,000 times and have learned to play parts on the piano. Great job.

I'd never heard of A Fine Frenzy. I went to a Rufus Wainwright concert a couple weeks ago and they were one of the opening bands and I was blown away. Now I'm obsessed, I love A Fine Frenzy!

I love it!! | Reviewer: Ali | 8/15/07

She's absolutely wonderful! I love her cd "One Cell in the Sea". I can't stop listening to "Almost Lover". It has to be one of the best cds out in a while!
