A Day in the Life Lyrics
Artist(Band):The Beatles
(Lennon/McCartney)
I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.
I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on
Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream
I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
I'd love to turn you on

The House of Lords, as of mid 2009, has over 730 members. 'Last member of the House of Lords' my fundament. Learn to do basic Googling before spouting off on the internet.
And I'm not even British. Sheee.
The Beatles "A Day in the Life' | Reviewer: D.McCartney | 4/5/09
The Beatles with sgt pepper and especially this particular song in 1967 opened new doors for musicians all over the world. "Sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band" released in the summer of 67 went where no album had ever gone, and the final song. The masterpiece "a day in the life" provided this album with an ending like no other. The Beatles took music along with culture one step further with "Sgt Pepper."
Nice! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/25/09
I love the beatles and think they are very deep, also this song is about the time when the last member of the house of lords commited suicide because he thought the change wouldnt stop and the house of lords is an English senate that was ended in the 60s.

I dont know if this is right, but I heard this song was written for John's mother who was killed by an off-duty police officer; she was hit with his car. Reguardless, I love this song and all of the Beatles in general. They had beautiful minds and beautiful lyrics. One of the best bands of all time.
the most beautiful song from the best album ever made | Reviewer: Ruud van Manen | 12/5/08
The album Sgt peppers completely changed my life. The album got me in its grip and never let me go since. No need to say that I'm a Beatles fan for life ever since I heard Love me do in 1962 on the Dutch radio. But with this album in 1967, the Beatles took their place in world history forgood!
a great song from the best album ever made | Reviewer: Ruud van Manen | 12/5/08
I grew up in the fifties and sixties (and still growin up by the way) ;-)
when the album sgt peppers came out in 1967, it took me like an earthquake! I never heard such beautiful and emotional songs. At that time I was a thirteen year old boy, but was blasted out of my shoes. At that time my english was not so perfect (still isn't)so I didn't understand every word that The Beatles sung, but the melodies and the complete different musicstyles comparing to the music from those times got me into their grip and till this day they held me in their grip. A day in the life is such a wonderful song that every time I hear it, tears come into my eyes and makes me dream over times that went and never will come back. With the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles took their place in history. 250 years from now people will talk over Lennon & Mc Cartney the same way as we talk now over Mozart, Bach and Beethoven. They are the great composers of our time! Greetings from the Netherlands from a Beatlesfan for life!

i took it completly different.
you see, it starts out with a suicide, then a sad movie, then a man leaving for work, then counting potholes. whcih begs the question; the relevence between them all. now i know what this means but i wont write it. the beatles songs are filled with mystery and truth. everytime you listen to them you find something new. i won't take that away from anyone. just please give them the respect they deserve. Oh boy.
One of the Greats | Reviewer: Andy B. | 2/7/08
Believe it or not, even with all of the acclaim, I think the Beatles are UNDER-RATED. Take a look at their catalog of songs. See the sentiment and the feelings of their songs. No one in the history of modern music comes close to them. This song may be one of their best. Reading the lyrics is one thing, but listen to the song. Listen to it again. It is truly an amazing son.
My all time favorite song... | Reviewer: Sue | 12/2/07
It is about the wealthy man who has everything that dies suddenly, showing money doesn't keep you alive & he was someone that John actually knew. It is about how Paul felt when he got up in the morning rushing off to school, how most people are going to work... everyday people. The absurbity of having to count potholes in streets... 4000 of them too boot! a gross waste of manpower for what? Life is too short and what are we doing? Are we actually living or just doing?
