Aaron Sprinkle A Christmas Song For All Year Round Lyrics

Last updated: 12/24/2007 10:00:00 AM

I wonder if this Christmas
They’ll begin to understand
That Jesus that they celebrate
Is much more than a man

The way the world is I can’t see
how people can deny
The only way to save us
Was for Jesus Christ to die

And I know that if St. Nicolas was here he would agree
That Jesus gave the greatest gift of all to you and me
They led him to the slaughter on a hill called Calvary
And mankind was forgiven when they nailed him to a tree

But most of all the children
They’re the ones I hope will learn
That Jesus is our savior
And he’s going to return

And Christmas isn’t just a day
And all days aren’t the same
Perhaps they’ll think about the word
And see that it spells his name

And I know that if St. Nicolas was here he would agree
That Jesus gave the greatest gift of all to you and me
They led him to the slaughter on a hill called Calvary
And mankind was forgiven
We were all forgiven when they nailed him to a tree

So merry Christmas

The Greatest Christmas Song Ever? | Reviewer: Steve Jacobson | 12/21/2007

Oh that every Christmas album had a version of this song instead of the tired, tepid slock that gets redone year after year after year. Penned by Randy Stonehill cerca 1976, the gentle lilting tune belie a song of enormous depth and sensitivity to even the most distracting of cultural icons, reminding all of us that St. Nicolas was a giver because he had received the most precious gift of salvation from the babe in the manger Who was the King of the Universe. Congrats, Aaron, on a great selection of what, for me, is one the top ten Christmas songs of all time, if not, at the least, the best of the last thirty years, unknown as it may be.
