86 Lyrics - Green Day

Review The Song (4)

What brings you around?
Did you lose something the last time you were here?

You'll never find it now
It's buried deep with your identity

So stand aside and let the next one pass
Don't let the door kick you in the ass

There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
Don't even try

Exit out the back
And never show your head around again

Purchase your ticket
And quickly take the last train
Out of town

An stand aside and let the next one pass
Don't let the door kick you in the ass

There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
Don't even try

There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
There's no return from 86
Don't even try

No place for 'I think that...' The reason of this song IS known | Reviewer: REAL Green Day fan | 7/9/11

Nothing about girlfriends. In fact, Billie's love songs have been all about Adrienne since the very first Green Day albums, and now he's married with her, so no broke up.
This song is, as Mark and Breanna explained, about their relationship with the people of Gilman Street bar. When Green Day started to grow up and they signed up with Lookout, they were called 'Sellouts' by the people of Gilman, who were very angry with Green Day, because there was a sort of promise between the people of gilman. If a band signed up with any label, it meant betraying, so they would be treated as betrayers, and that's what happened to Green Day.
One day Billie went to Gilman and this is all he felt. 'There's no return from 86, don't even try' That's what they made Green Day understand. In fact, he saw a graffiti that said 'Billie must die'.
All this made him write this song.

86 means that they were banned from the gilman. the gilman was basicaly where billie and mike grew up. once they signed to a major label they were 86'ed from the gilman. they couldn't play there anymore and their old fans were angry that they left the gilman.

no... this song is in insomniac.. it was written because green day was shunned by the community they used to be apart of... especial the gilman street scene.. and this song was a big fuck you to them.. and a means of showing they didnt give a shit
