22, Acacia Avenue Lyrics - Iron Maiden
Review The Song (6)
(the continuing saga of Charlotte the Harlot)
(Harris/Smith)
If you're feeling down depressed and lonely
I know a place where we can go
22 Acacia Avenue
Meet a lady that I know
So if you're looking for a good time
And you're prepared to pay the price
Fifteen quid is all she asks for
Everybody's got their vice
If you're waiting for a long time
For the rest to do their piece
You can tell her that you know me
You might even get it free
So any time you're down the East End
Don't you hesitate to go
You can take my honest word for it
She'll teach you more than you can know
Charlotte can't you get out
From all of this madness?
Can't you see
It only brings you sadness
When you entertain your men
Don't you know the risk of getting disease?
Some day when you're reaching
The age of forty
I bet you'll regret the days
When you were laying
Nobody then will want to know
You won't have any beautiful wares to show any more
22, the Avenue
That's the place where we all go
You will find it's warm inside
The red light's burning bright tonight
Charlotte isn't it time
You stopped this mad life?
Don't you ever think
About the bad times?
Why do you have to live this way?
Do you enjoy your lay or is it the pay?
Sometimes when you're strolling
Down the Avenue
The way you walk it makes me think
Of having you
When you're walking down the street
Everybody stops and turns to stare at you
22, the Avenue
That's the place where we all go
You will find it's warm inside
The red light's burning bright tonight
Beat her, mistreat her
Do anything that you please
Bite her, excite her
Make her get down on her knees
Abuse her, misuse her
She can take all that you've got
Caress her, molest her
She always does what you want
You're running away
Don't you know what you're doing?
Can't you see it'll lead you to ruin?
Charlotte you've taken your life
And you've thrown it away
You believe that because
What you're earning
Your life's good don't you know
That is hurting...
All the people that love you
Don't cast them aside
All the men
That are constantly drooling
It's no life for you
Stop all that screwing
You're packing your bags
And you're coming with me

Not true! | Reviewer: Maiden fan nbr 1 | 4/12/12
Not true people! Maiden is not losing fans! What's wrong with you! Maiden is the best Metal band of all times! I had the chanse to look them live once and I will have it anotehr time in 2013 and they are showing no signs of aging!!! Maybe they lose fans in the stupid ''usa'' but in Europe and S.America NOOOOO! Can'' wait to see the again! UP THE IRONS \m/
where are all the maiden fans | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/18/11
I love iron maiden and the reason they are losing fans is because nobody can play iron maiden. So they suck it up by playing as fast as possible. Maiden is as classic as classic can get. There is only one iron maiden. Long live Eddie.
amazing says it all | Reviewer: alex deluca | 6/1/11
great song and deff a clasic.i too am dissapointed that maiden fans are becoming fewer and farther between these days. its taken effect on their tours as well. they barely even stopped in the us this time around. two shows in florida and that was it. but this is possibly one of my favorite maiden songs, second only to hallowed be thy name. i was involved with a whore for a year and a half trying to get her to "stop all that scrwing". this song hits me right at home. maiden forever!!!
great pt. 2 to "charlotte the harlot" | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/23/11
its pretty obvious that it is. why else would they mention her? and i third what the other two before me said. there are less and less maiden fans nowadays, mainly because people only want fast drums and heavy, fast riffs. dont get me wrong, i love those songs, too. granted, i only listen to the ones with some structure.
the point is most bands have no structure and only noise. iron maiden is the shining light in all of them, i guess. they're bigger than all of those bands. simply the best.

thanks anonymous, your statement reflects my opinion. metalheads and maiden fans alike are depleting, and the majority of the population is succumbing to terrible and commercialized music. It is disheartening. LONG LIVE MAIDEN
&, agreed, a whore
Meaning is fairly obvious | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/2/09
First off, i'l open with, why the hell has no one commented on a classic maiden song? Is there no maiden fans left any more?
Anyway, the meaning is freaking obvious, charlotte = prostitute.
Awesome song!!
