20 Years Lyrics
Artist(Band):Placebo
Review The Song (7)Print the Lyrics
There are twenty years to go
and twenty ways to know
who will wear
who will wear the hat

There are twenty years to go
the best of all i hope
enjoy the ride
the medicine show

Thems the breaks
for we designer fakes
we need to concentrate on more than meets the eye

There are twenty years to go
the faithful and the low
the best of starts
the broken heart,the stone

There are twenty years to go
the punch drunk and the blow
the worst of starts
the mercy part,the phone

Thems the breaks
for we designer fakes
we need to concentrate on more than meets the eye

Thems the breaks
for we designer fakes
but it`s you i take 'cause you´re the truth, not I

There are twenty years to go
a golden age i know
but all will pass
will end too fast,you know

There are twenty years to go
and many friends i hope
though some may hold the rose
some hold the rope

that´s the end and that´s the start of it
that´s the whole and that´s the part of it
that´s the high and that´s the heart of it
that´s the long and that´s the short of it
that´s the best and that´s the test in it
that´s the doubt,the doubt,the trust in it
that´s the sight and that´s the sound of it
that´s the gift and that´s the trick in it

you´re the truth,not i
you´re the truth,not i

you´re the truth,not i
you´re the truth,not i

what he means "though some may hold the rose some hold the rope" he means some people will become your friends and bring real goodness(rose) into your life and other people will bring bad things or have double intentions...(rope) im sure of it...!

re : About the song 20 Years performed by Placebo | Reviewer: Katwoman | 1/27/08

I think the lyrics are exactly what they're supposed to mean...how, he's afraid that time is passing too fast, and even though along the way it'll be fun (a golden age I know) there will always be problems with friends like in the verse where he sings "though some may hold the rose some hold the rope" (where his friends might go suicidal, problems like that) I'm not 100% sure... but then again, who is? besides Brian Molko himself... hope this review helped !

-Cheers

About the song 20 Years performed by Placebo | Reviewer: Belen | 9/4/07

I love the melody but not quite follow the meaning of the lyrics. Could some one give me a general idea?

remix | Reviewer: Mikey | 4/24/07

Never heard the original but checked the lyrics after hearing Timo Maas' remix. Pretty good. check it out on myspace.

good and bad news about placebo | Reviewer: axel molko | 11/19/04

the good new is this album, it´s a good recopilation of the best group ever so enjoy it because the bad new is that they´re going to be on tour until 2006 I READ IT ON THEIR OFFICIAL SITE WWW.PLACEBOWORLD.CO.UK so you better send e-mails to the page so you can see them in your country.

Cheers for Placebo!!
Bye!!

Placebo~Twenty Years C'est bon! | Reviewer: Emilie | 11/15/04

It's another good song by them! Not one of the best songs but still thought provoking and original, I'm still in an utter state of adoration for them though.
