This song is amazing. It is my soundtrack song for life. It is your soundtrack song for life. It's super useful to sing at the top of your lungs on a bus (or anywhere!) in France, though this often scares other groups away. I sing it silently when I'm thinking about last summer and remembering the people. It makes me happy and a little sad with the memories, but I LOVE 1985!!!

when I was like 8 listening to this song, I had no idea what any of this stuff was. Then I forgot about the song, fell in love with classic rock, watched the Whitesnake videos, tore my hair out over DLR and Van Halen, and didn't understand why Dr. Feelgood was on my favorite classic radio station. Then I looked back at the lyrics and almost laughed out loud.
