I love this song!! I am a total GN'R fan. @Johanna, if you own the "Use Your Illusion" I/II, u would see who the lead vocals were. Izzy is the lead in the song, Axl is only backup in it.

this is the fucking best song in all history of guns n' roses or overall. I feel so identify with this song, it counts my history with my father. He fucked up my life for 14 years, and after that he leaved me and never came back. This song is everything I want to tell him. Izzy is an AMAZING songwritter and guitarrist and I LOVE his voice, is not perfect, it may not even "good", but he knows how to use it and how transmite the feelings to any one that hears it. This is my favorite song of all and one of the most underestimated song of all, it's so GREAT but not every one hears it or even know that it exist...

if all the original guns n roses members came back and made one more album the whole world would run smoother.guns n roses were ,still are ,and forever will be the best rock band who ever lives. EVER.I would know i know everything there is to know about guns n roses.tey were a big mark in history from when izzy and axl went to high school in indiana when they started gigs and when they got a multi-million dollar record deal and when they broke up in 1996 2 months and 14 days after i was born.that is all history.

And it's lyrics is written by izzy and composed by Izzy and Rose...
Main theme is "something going wrong in the band, and 14 years of silence is enough"...Then izzy left the band. So the "logic" is gone. He was a buffer between axl and Slash/Duff/Matt (I think Matt had no big deal with Axl, but he had better relations with Slash and Duff...So Velvet Revolver was born)
I think if izzy could work with Velvet Revolver they could make better biz...Anyway thanks to all "real" GNR members for great songs of music history.

Morgan is right, if you listen closely you hear Axl coming in at the chorusses as the lead singer, while you still hear the other voice (Izzy's) in the background.
If I recall correctly Axl is playing piano in this song. The verse's piano is complicated and it's hard to be singing the lead voice at the same time as playing the piano part, whereas in the chorusses (when Axl comes in) the piano is alot easier

The reason everyones saying that Axl sounds different in 14 Years is coz he didn't sing it! Izzy Stradlin sang the lead vocals on this song and also on Dust N' Bones. If you don't believe me listen to the song again and you can hear Axl come in on the choruses, but apart from that its Izzy.

This is a really great song to listen to when you're feeling sad or depressed. Axl Rose sounds different in the vocals but he is still amazing as always. The song is about Axl's stuglle with the band in particular, Slash. If you read the lyrics, they are very clear the things that were going wrong at the time. But this song is a great song for anyone that needs a good vent or cry.

Axl sings it, it is different from what he usually does, but it is one of the most amazing songs written by Guns N Roses. This song has a lot of sorrow and pain in it. It represents struggles Axl Rose has had in his life particularly with the band (especially Slash). I connect this song to my personal life because it is just a great song to vent to or if you need a good cry.
