As in they are disturbed about the state of things i.e. war, famine, human nature etc. This was actually clarified in an on air interview. To any other doubters out there, as many people have said, this song is about the power of uniting in a cause, in this case against the injustices against minorities and 'freaks' etc. The line about leaving the 'weak and the haunted behind' refers to distancing onself from those to weak/close-minded because they are 'haunted' or poisonous.
