The Reviews about Angels (page 9/ 24)
------ performed by Within Temptation

twilight | Reviewer: anonymous | 7/29/08

Excellent song, very deep, meaningful lyrics, and, as per usual Sharon rocks the chains off her competition (Yeah, I'm looking riiight at you, Evanescence).
And yes, Twilight DOES suck. Worst book ever. Sharon might sing instead:
"Stupid Bella, how could you not see
Edward's flaws, his idiocy?
Whilst Jacob bitches and moans in a corner
If he keeps up, someone better call a coroner."

*chuckles* | Reviewer: Raven | 7/28/08

Before someone torches me: I have nothing against Pagans, Wiccans, et cetera. Hell, some of my relatives back in Ireland are Wiccans. I am Christian but that does not define my entire life.
McKenzie, sorry, but.... No, WT ain't a Pagan band. Alot of their songs have Christian influences/references (Our Solemn Hour-the continued Holy Spirt reference, The Cross-"Even Judas knew he had lied", Truth Beneath The Rose-"No longer I can justify the bloodshed in His name"). Though they are DEFINITELY not a Christian band (THANK YOU, there are waaay too many of those around), they just ask questions no one else is strong enough or has enough guts to. Therefore, they're not devoted to promoting any one religion. And FYI: The music video was about a demonic serial killer who took different forms, all "trustworthy" people (a priest, a doctor, a clown, and so on) to acheive his victims. And, if you haven't noticed, he was destroyed by a team of vigilante ANGELS. Hell, to me the song's just about betrayal and revenge. Probably relates to a book, like alot of WT's songs do.
And lol, SL: excellent new lyrics for the song. You should make a parody.

Interesting imagery | Reviewer: JP | 7/23/08

In a previous comment, someone mentioned the fallen angel / satan imagery, where someone else mentioned it seemed to be about a break up.

The imagery works for either. Generally, I find that love songs can either be about love for someone, or love for God. Similarly, songs about love betrayed or lost can just as easily be about a breakup as they can be about the deceptions of the devil.

I'm not sure which the band meant in this case. Possibly both, but given some of their other songs, I have to think the religious imagery was in their minds. Especially "Our Solemn Hour", which contains the latin phrase "Sanctus Espiritus" which means "Holy Spirit". That entire song is a cry to God for help.

Angels, a different take | Reviewer: McKenzie | 7/23/08

To the person who said it might be about a break up, good for you, it just might be, (it's a different take, at least). But to the person who said it was about the Devil, you're a moron. Within Temptation is a PAGAN band. It reflects on how some christians get too devout into their belief and begin finding fault in everything but themselves and start to persecute it. It's shown in the video that the man was a religious man who does away with those he deems to be impure. Most likely he was Catholic or involved in one of those cults that trains him to treat women like crap because of Original Sin, (which is totally stupid)Btw, I am not a girl, I am a guy. I'm Celtic Wiccan, and I'm glad that there can be pagan bands out there supporting wiccan image and beliefs. I have nothing against Christians, btw, I just support the message against those of the intolerant kind.

Angels | Reviewer: Semi-charmed-life | 7/20/08

I don't particularly care if it sounds like The Twilight Series. It was not written for that purpose.
Yeah, it could be about satan and such, but I think it is about a break up. Don't we all have that one angel who we think is perfect but, as people said before, angels are no better than us.
And the girl finds this out too late, after her "angel" breaks her heart

fallen angels | Reviewer: SL | 7/19/08

this song truly describes satan trying to lure people to believe him. this song rocks! my favourite within temptation song, and jillian. btw, twilight sucks! bella is a idiot, and edward is a chauvinist. maybe sharon should sing
"sparkling edward, i believe
you were gonna make me, into a vamp
blinded by light, couldn't see
your dark intentions, your feelings for me"

**** the song is so cold and sad**** | Reviewer: ,,As" | 7/10/08

Response | Reviewer: Laveia | 6/30/08

The song's strong...
Those who trailed off to vampires & angels.
Angels are dirty creatures, no better than humans, if as equally as foul.
Vampires, weak creatures, who only murder to survive, not knowing anything else.

Fascist Beliefs About the Others. | Reviewer: Laveia | 6/30/08

Pity such a song gets such silly responses, trailing off to vampires & angels. Angels are no greater than us, I know that this song is strong, but it pities me hearing the beliefs of what angels are, when they're dirty, filthy creatures just like us humans, maybe less, whereas vampires are weak beings who feed off others to survive, not knowing any other way to remain sane... however, that's just one opinion.

Please. Don't insult the vampires. | Reviewer: Raven | 5/22/08

First of all: KEEP ROCKING, SHARON! ^^ Sory, I had to say that...
Second of all: Refer you to the fallen ones, Aniel?
The ones with the eyes so deep and beautiful they could tear you apart if you saw a drop of sadness in them, yet they delight in the hate and promises of anvengement in yours?
The ones who love pain more than anything else, in Earth, Heaven, hell, or the innumerable parallel universes that, in all likeliness, exist?
Please, don't insult the vampires. (One: Bella is positively spineless. Two: I would take a vampire as opposed to a fallen angel any day.)
