My rocker high school boyfriend used to play this for me in 1997...now I'm 30 with three kids and it cracks me up that the song references fax machines, car phones, being rad, and being fresh.

weezer did it first. they wrote it for their lawyer who's name was, well, Jamie. it was one of the first songs they did and both the original electric recording (which was originally released on a compilation called DGC Rarities) and a beautiful acoustic version (recorded live for a radio station) are available on the deluxe edition of the Blue Album. Dashboard Confessional covered it.

That's a terrific Weezer song. The best that they have ever made so far. I sometimes sing and play (guitar) this song to my girlfriend. That's a beautiful song for a beautiful name.

I'm pretty sure Weezer did Jamie first...Dashboard did a cover of it as a tribute to Weezer some time after it came out.
