The king [belchazzar] watched the hand as it wrote." Basically the Jews were in exile in babylon, and this was Gods way to tell Belchazzaer that he was in trouble. (Read on and see what God did to Belchazzar and his kingdom, because he would not humble himself before God, even after he saw what God did to Nebuchadnezer.) This song was written from the Jews perspective in post-modern times.
