This song is all about forgiveness, not specifically about the events of bloodysunday. This is simply a poor man's version of John Lennon's classic which is fueled by the hatred the bogside still holds for the brits.

The song is specifically NOT about Bloody Sunday in 1972, which, if you actually listened to what the band have said aboyut the song, you'd know.

It seems Bono's exhortation of this "not being a rebel song" have fallen on deaff ears.

It uses the title Bloody Sunday as a known motif in Irish/Northern Irish history, but the point of the song is to rise above the tribalism of Northern Irish politics!

After heaRing this song i can honestly say that u2 is the greatest band ever!They are reporting the pain and the trauma that the irish people suffered that day in the shape of beautiful melodies and cleverly-functioned lyrics!They truly fight for a cause which is peace and that what makes the greatest!

Yeah exactly as the other guy said its a dark day in Irish history. My Grandfather was in the march and one of his best friends was shot. A man named Doherty. My grandfather marched every year with the rest until he died a few years ago.
