The Reviews about I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (page 10/ 13)

i believe | Reviewer: amy | 2/5/08
Bono is actually Catholic;
this song is a symbol of how everyone from every walk of life searches for what they need...
and in a Rolling Stone Cover interview in 2005 Bono, after being asked "so have you found what you've been looking for?" replied "no, but i think it found me"....
Who cares? | Reviewer: William | 2/1/08
I've seen that many argue to proove that song is about religion or not.
Well to me there is several obvious mention of it: "Carried the cross of all my shame", "Tongue of angels" and "hand of a devil". But in my opinion if he is toalking about religion he talking about it negatively, indeed to summary after all he did he still haven't found what he is looking for. So this song would be very similar to "Loosing my religion" by REM.
Personaly, I think, it is about Faith in general, and this is all metaphores. When you do all you are suppose to do (in love, religion, or whatever) to reach something. There is a moment when you did so much for what you believe and get nothing back that you wonder how far you need to go. I think this beautiful song is just about this felling.
What's up | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/1/08
Well, I agree with him. First of all, if Bono was Christain, he wouldn't still be looking for something, he would have foung Christ already. Secondly, he wasn't drunk, he was confused and needing something he just can't find it.
your all wrong | Reviewer: Him | 1/27/08
Here Bono sings about a drunk guy face it!!! Honey lips - city walls!!! The need for more is burning inside him... The poor guy strugles to move on with his life but can't.... He some part blames it on the lord..
there's a book | Reviewer: I forgot it | 1/21/08
U2 wrote a book, its called U2 by U2. pretty awesome read. Bono is technically cristian, (if i remember correctly) but he lost his mother and (again i may have gotten it wrong) uncle. Those were the two religious people in his family. him and his dad were always butting heads. Not much time for going to church. He didn't write it for catholics, he didn't write it for anybody but himself. in that book, he says he's STILL looking for something.
if it moves you it moves you | Reviewer: mick | 12/11/07
what's that verse about the greatest commandment? ..."the greatest of these is love" ? Religion is the wrong word anyway. True belief involves real love.. everything else is just man's "religion" if it moves you it moves you. God Bless
The song performed in 1987... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/30/07
The lyrics in the video and song for it WERE
I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing fingertips
It burned like a fire
This burning desire
If they changed it on their site, it's probably because Bono got like pissed off with religion or people hating his song for making the original relate so closely to religion. I dunno, just a heads up "Jesus Freak".
Straight from Xian Scripture! | Reviewer: Musiclover | 11/15/07
Of course this song is specifically Xian in origin & lyrics - and if you don't like it, don't listen to it. As a Jew, I find it beautiful ANYWAY and, when I internalize it, I interpret it to my own feelings. But to deny what the man wrote, which is so blatant - that's just stupid.
more versatile than you may think | Reviewer: katy | 11/11/07
i like how everyone is controversial about whether its about religion or love. my opinion is that the song is meant to be interpreted differently by each listener. they will naturally view the meaning to conform their life and personal beliefs. thats what music is for :D
Go on... | Reviewer: Pliny | 10/22/07
"Wrong be his ideals?" what exactly do u mean by that? This song obviuosly has a strong christian message ( as you say, intolerence) The thing I love and appreciate about Bono is the way he brings Christian meanings, without have to hit you in the face with them. He gives his message in a way that everyone can relate to. As humans it is a struggle to find "what we are looking for" Bono knows that and alludes to the one way to find it - In Christ.
