It's an awesome album if you give it the chance, like I have.
It's no way near as addictive as Ascendancy but it's still good.
It gets a thumbs up from me.
Pathetic loafs. | Reviewer: sonam | 7/28/06
Trivium is an amazing band. I mean i dont see you topping their riffs now do i? Ascendency, their latest album, has been a huge success and the fans love it. There is a HUGE number of Trivium fans out there and personally i think Matt Heafy is an amazing vocalist, let alone guitarist. his screaming fits the melotunes very well. the choruses are different, original and yet some are simple, like in "The Deceived" but it was catchy and kept you listening. Some stuff is original some isn't, deal with it because people love it.
And for a chick like me to love Trivium, they must be good. They got me into screaming heavy music. Fuck the genre, they kick ass.
Trivium | Reviewer: Me | 6/13/06
Funny... the eloquent reviews are from people who dislike Metalcore (and Trivium) and the "mEseD Up/incoherent Reveews" are from people who worship the ground Trivium walks. Congratulations to those of you who can formulate a decent argument as opposed to those who say "Trivium rock!! Best band in the world!!" The song writing in this deserves a big fat zero. The riffs in "Like Light to the Flies" completely plagerises In Flames. The drumming in "Pull Harder" copies all these thrash metal bands. The part about them being the next Metallica is rubbish. Jame Hetfield does not scream like in a screamo band nor sing like an - yes I'll say it - emo kid.
Solos in every song does not make it orginal or impressive, contrary to popular belief. In fact, this foolish wankering just highlights the fact that Matt Heafy is trying too hard. It seems as though they were trying to get a few different crowds at once who don't know "true metal". At first it was a few generic Metalcore riffs then a few generic solos, though, I guess some solos is better than none. It seemed like the solos were in there to trick people into believing they were listening to 'true-metal' but people who have been listening to the genre for long enough know not to be thrown-off by a few generic, slow-paced solos. I could live with most of the other things if it weren't for the irritating Emo choruses, which, by the way, were in nearly every song. Again, I feel this is to attract the Emo kids.
There's no atmosphere. It's bland. It contains bass, guitars and drums but there's nothing particularly appealing about any of the songs. It just seems they wrote the album in about a week. There's no variety. Each song is structured rigidly, with no room for flexibility. Every song contains the same formula: screaming verse, clean singing chorus, screaming, clean singing, annoying solo, chorus.
Trivium are not, and will never be the next Metallica because:
1. When Metallica started, they didn't set out to become the next big thing or the next "Black Sabbath"... they were just doing their own thing regardless of whether they failed or not.
2. Back in 1982, Metallica were creating original music that sounded like nobody elses'.
Trivium are not only far from being original, they are one of the zillion indistinguishable metalcore bands signed to major labels, who are not even one of the top three bands in their metal sub-genre.
3. Metallica were truly underground: They didn't rely on TV, or radio airplay like Trivium. Metallica were not writing radio friendly songs with cheesy sing-along breakdowns like Trivium.
I can't believe this unoriginal junk is getting so much praise. Solos do not make metal I repeat. Bands such as Opeth and Amorphis do not have a solo in every song and yet there are classed as true metal. Mixing irritating MTV punk music with so-called metal is just wrong.
Now you metalcore lovers (who claim Trivium as true metal) try and justify why Trivium is so awesome.
Fuck | Reviewer: Luke | 5/9/06
The drumming is immense theres no doubt about it. There is a hint of repetition, but until people become professionals then they will not realise the true difficulty of making songs sound different but not to different that it loses the interest of fans.
Yes, Trivium are also over-rated and commercially hyped, but, in my eyes, they are the words of jealous people (for the majority of the people anyway). Their lyrics may be written with a lot of long words (evident on Ascendancy especially), but take the time to research the words and then, the true meaning behind Trivium's songs will click with you.
Overrated | Reviewer: Brock | 5/6/06
Trivium is SO overrated. They have talent, but their songs are repetative, sound the same, and definately aren't origional.
EX. the riff that starts Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr is nicfe, but its been used similarly so many times. They need to be more individual, and set out on their own path.

Trivium Rocks! | Reviewer: christina f. | 1/30/06
I think that Trivium is the best ever except for SLipknot. Matt Heafy is HOT and so is his voice. And Corey Beaulieu is HOT too! All four of them are amazing. I hope that I can meet them and they're getting me into Metallica.
Go see | Reviewer: Beckie | 1/28/06
If you get the oppurtunity to see them. Do it.
I saw them Sept 05 at Colchester Arts Centre, It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen, I wasnt much into Metal but that was a real eye opener. Im going to see them again at the Astoria in March, should be a good gig, Venue's bigger this time but what ever more kids to mosh with.
Go see them their songs are the ball's too who would have thought a bunch of 'kids' would sing about politics, abuse, freedom, crappy relationships.
The whole lot they dont cover one area like most bands are now days which is 'love' isnt anyone fed up with hearing the same rubbish. If you are you should get into Trivium, best band to come out of this century so far and I dont think anyone will be able to top that.
They demand attention when they are on stage, they ask you to form a pit, do it. It will be a better night if you do and you never know the band may say that was on of the best dates they played.
Crowd pleasers to the max, you do what they say you will have the time of your life, It worked for me. Can't say I remember much though. Pretty tipsy.
