everything I could ever want from Tori Amos
Only listened to this one song, not the album. The angelic, understanding, caring, sensitive voice that soars and soothes and picks you up along the way. Funny how you can start with a simple piano riff, add a bit of guitar picking, here and there... after all, she's just an innocent girl with ribbons undone. 'Lo and behold, all is unleashed and she opens your heart, gives you a peek at your own soul and sets you back down to do it again by yourself if you should choose to.
The production work is solid, with lush harmonies, guitar strumming that is subtle yet very effective. The full band in around the 1:35 mark is bliss. An arpeggiated run on electric guitar with effects give you a drunken, dreary sense of happy melancoly.
I hope the rest of the album is like this. My heart aches for more.
