Cry babies? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/19/10
So they sold out because they got rich? How does that make sense? Their music may have gotten a little lighter in 10,000 days but not much. Their music has pretty much stayed the same. But I guess because they got rich and like to use that money they "sold out", what a joke. If you got millions of dollars you would live the same way, so stop being jealous because they're rich and you aren't. And like I said, even if they are proverbial 'sell outs' their music is still great, their shows are still great. So stop crying.

k. this song is obvious and fun at the same time. i had a good friend who fit this posers description telling me all of what tool's songs meant, (back in 2000). He painted a picture of himself, a pot smokin psuedo hippie that still cared if his counter culture was being recepted and accepted enough. I think this song makes fun of tool fans that think thier educated because they're tool fans. If you don't get that, then enjoy the music, because it is pretty dope. Word out dogg, FUBU fo LIEf
So Fucken What? | Reviewer: Mac | 3/26/10
I haven't known Tool for a very long time, maybe 2 months, but from what I see, they haven't really sold out. I mean, yes, they have, but there's a limit. Papa Roach, Blink 182, Eminem... THEY sold out. Tool still writes songs that matter, they still have a creative, constructive way of making their music. They've maintained dignity nonetheless, even at the expensive of living rich, filthy lives and making music videos.
You know what, at least they don't fucken sing about money, bitches and sex. They're awesome, for sure, but more importantly, they're human.
FUK U ALL | Reviewer: honn | 3/22/10
its amazing how ppl are brainwashed by this shiit just like everything else. "tool is amazing no matter wat even if he fuks my mom, omg i love u so much" omg JUST STFU . And i dont think selling out is just about their albums, its about the way of life. And most ppl sell out cos they dont fukiin think so they are puppets in the hands of the ppl controling the fukin world

This is a great song. Maynard admits openly that they sold out. The punk kid doesn't realize that he sold out too, he just didn't get anything in return.
Music is a tool. Sad, what money can do to art.
A Touch on Mentality | Reviewer: Jake | 5/1/08
Maynard rips on a number of ideologies and fashions/styles in this song. When he describes this hypocritical 'boy' in the beginning of the song he specifically points out signs of vanity in the kid. Practically laughing at the way the kid lives life, I'm sure.
I wouldn't say I'm unmaterialistic, but I take something more from this song then the band selling out bit.
just great | Reviewer: Rooster | 2/22/08
it gets really annoying when people say 'oh they sold out' for pretty much every band out there when they really don't even know what the hell they're talking about. i'm glad they made this song.
Tool/Rule | Reviewer: Tom | 11/28/07
Sometimes lyrics you don't know, make a song that means lots to you, seem less personal but by no means less important. Regardless I love this tune and Tool (fullstop.) Reviews are the same personal and often contrevesial (excuse spelling errors if any). This band and this tune rule, end of... peace
maynard a god | Reviewer: olivia | 11/19/07
Maynard is the most amazing person in the world and I think he is most definently a god and I can't even believe that any one would ever say something to him like that every word he rights is so meaningful and powerful its unbelievable. so who the fuck cares if he sold out or what he does hes amazing!
Way to go Maynard! | Reviewer: Joe Esposito | 11/20/04
You know, whether you like it or not, when you sign a contract to make a record that agrees to pay you millions of dollars (depending on how many albums you sell), then you are a sell-out. Maynard knew this and told off some punk-ass kid that told Maynard he was selling out. He said that he sold out, the kid's rippin on him, yet he still buys the album. When Maynard speaks, you listen!
