My son spent a year in Iraq and will be leaving tomorrow for Afghanistan. It may sound corny but I have sung this song countless times in karaoke at a local American Legion as a way to show how much the vets mean to me. It brings a tear to my eyes every time I hear it or sing it. As others have said, we owe a debt of gratitude to the vets that can never be fully repaid. The sacrifices the soldiers and their families make are unbelievable. Thanks to all of you. My fiance has been in Iraq since March 08 and won't be returning to the states until June 09.Everything about this song is completely accurate about him. I miss him more than anything and it is so devastating not to be able to touch or talk to him everyday. We have dated since I was 15 and I am 20 now. We have a beautiful son together. He has not seen James yet. He means everything to me and I don't know what I'd do if the unthinkable happened. He doesn't tell me much because he knows I worry enough. I send him packages once a month and I cannot wait to see his smiling face when he steps off that plane down in TX in June.
