This song is one of the highlights of Quadrophenia - perhaps THE highlight. And that is certainly due to the clever lyrics, that seem to anticipate the punk movement several years before it materialized (how the hell did Pete know this??!) and at the same time make a reference to My generation.
It's also because of the great power guitar riff that is the musical theme of the song, but most of all it's because of the chorus (I'm the guy in the sky), where Roger Daltrey exceeds himself and literally reaches new heights. For me, the scream in Wont get fooled again, and the 'stutter' here are the two most memorable examples of Roger's unique contribution to the sound of the Who
