------ performed by The Who
Awesome masterpiece | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/22/09
Drowned is one of my favorite Who songs. The merging of Roger Daltrey's voice with the instruments of the band is amazing. The song is an overlooked gem. Most of the stuff churned out by today's rock bands isn't even in the same league. Music has declined so much over the last several decades. It's sad.
Played at a funeral | Reviewer: Chris A | 1/1/09
This song was played at a funeral for a friend of mine recently. He had requested that a version of it performed by Pete Townsend at the Secret Policeman's Ball be seen by those who attended. I have to say that it was quite moving and the imagery of the ocean water taking many forms -- flying through the sky, traveling down cold metal, a tear in a baby's eye, rippling over canyons, and boiling in the train -- seemed a moving and wonderful expression of the devine.
The Who are kings of rock, and Drowned is a jewel in the masterpiece Quadrophenia.
i'm the first sweet | Reviewer: todd | 7/11/08
I can't believe no one has written a comment about this song oin here yet, I guess I'll take the crown for the first. This a great song, one of the best from the Quadrophenia album, the lyrics & sound is nothing short of brilliance. There is one more line thats missing at the end of the song it goes "I wanna drown, In cold water".
