my son | Reviewer: Jan | 10/12/07
I have a son who has been through much distress through his later teenage years. When I hear this song I think of him and feel the words in my heart as he may have felt at the time of his sorrow and what he went through. I sit here and read the song and cry and pray he can heal from his sadness. He too has beautiful blue eyes.........................
A word of advice | Reviewer: an empathetic guy | 9/22/07
First of all I love this song because of its music not its meaning.
If you have diverse references of music, you wouldn't be to depressed.
Listen to different types of music (up tempo, whatever uplifting).
You'd probably feel a whole lot better.
I hope it helps.
Hey, it's just a suggestion.

This IS a great classic song. The cool thing about a song like this, is that it can mean different things to different people. However, I wonder if Pete was describing how it felt to gay and not be able to come out of the closet. Just a thought. D.G./Atl.
Love this song, hate limp Dickheads version | Reviewer: Slash | 8/22/07
I love the who, have done since I was young. One of the first albums I bought was Who's Next which featured this song. Got really angry when the Limp DickHeads did a cover and replaced the best part of the song with some crappy Synthesised self indulgent garbage.
More power to the Who :-)
The song is about addiction, not depression. | Reviewer: Mike Traudt | 8/15/07
Everyone,
This song is the most accurate rendition of what it feels like to be an addict. There are elements of depression in every addict, to be sure, but the lyrics go way beyond that malady.

This song is the perfect song when you are depressed. I am very lonely, and empty inside, and this song shows me that I am not the only one. People may hate me for what I am, but I am the one who truely feels the pain from my own self loathing. Yet I put on a happy face and cry inside... This song puts out there everything that people try to keep hidden, their own pain.
The song means so much to me! | Reviewer: My son's mother | 7/18/07
My darling son committed suicide and this song was the one that says all about the way he was feeling. It is the song he wanted us to listen to after his death, not because he was angry but because he wanted us to understand what was going on inside him. He was suffering from depression and tried to hide it from us, his family. Only his fiance knew what was going on inside him. He had the most beautiful blue eyes...I miss them.
Um, what? | Reviewer: SJ | 7/12/07
Wow. The very first comment posted under this song is so unfortunate. This is a beautiful song about anger and sadness and all the difficult emotions of perfectly normal human beings. Has nothing to do with rape or child porn. How ridiculous. I love this song, always have. It was very consoling to me as a teenager. My dreams aren't as empty as my conscience SEEMS to be. 100% dead-on-balls in line with my feelings, and the way people did not understand me.

It's incredible how many people are moved by this song. and I'm sure that there are so many more people out there who feel the same way, that somehow Pete reached into there souls and pulled this song out. It's an amazing piece of writing; if I had blue eyes this song would be almost too perfect for me
