To be honest, I think that the song isn't about loving yourself, or other people (although many people tend to think along those lines). To me, it's just saying that nothing in life really matters if you look at it. Like it says "Happiness, coming and going" - which basically says that moods and emotions come and go, and "It's just a change in me" - which says that the events going on around are "just" are change to his life, but don't matter too much. That's how I perceive it anyway. If you love/respect yourself, you should be capable of greater love for someone else. I think it has undertones of both subjects in it, or it can be what you need to hear.
