lmao...your right | Reviewer: bk | 5/26/08

you are so right about this bieng about music...
in an interview with the used they say pretty much the same thing you just said...

Various quotes from The Used regarding this song: "This is the song that first attracted John Feldmann to our band. We were sending him mp3s of our songs as we wrote them. This is the one that really stood out to him and made him decide to produce our band."

"This is a song about being proud of what we were doing for once and and loving music to the fullest. The idea actually came from some sheet music. A box full of sharp objects represents a measure of time on paper with quarter notes. We all thought that it was a very strong metaphor."

"It's the song that we really realized that working together and having the different influences we all have could work really good for us."

"We played it at our first show ever back in Provo and we had 3 ballerinas dancing on stage during it. It was beautiful, they were all in black and had pale face makeup on. it was amazing, but some of the kids didn't seem to really get it."

Maybe... | Reviewer: Alice | 4/4/08

So maybe it is about cutting. Personally it doesn't say that to me at all. I think you have to go deeper than that; it's more symbolic. This box of sharp objects could be referring to anything, not necessarily an actual box. Like, perhaps he's inside the box. Somehow. I don't have a clue what I'm on about, I'm not a music analyser. But it just seems to go deeper than cutting - excuse pun.

No you're the one being wrong dude | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/23/08

You are very wrong in this, pal. 'lmfao you're interpretations are awful'
I've got the orginal album: Maybe Memories here and the booklet it states: "This is a song about being proud of what we're doing and loving music to the fullest." It also stated: "A box full of sharp objects represents also a measure of time on paper with quarter notes. We all thought it being a strong metaphore."
So it IS about love for music, and surely not about anyones fault or whatever...

lmfao you're interpretations are awful | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/9/08

this song is about going into a box full of sharp objects drawing blood. and when he says "Do you want a song of glory
WELL I'M FUCKING SCREAMING AT YOU" this means its her fault. lmfao its not about a love for music. he's saying that drawing blood with sharp objects makes him feel stronger. "We've fallen in love. It was the best idea I ever had" means that the love didn't work out. which is why he resorted to a box full of sharp objects. .... not a love for music. lmfao

um wow | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/6/08

well i think what most of you are saying is crap, the song cant say stronger AND SHARPER if it is talking about love, and trust me i know music, there is no person scychotic enough to write a metaphore about a box full of sharp objects and music it just doesnt make sense. Its obviously about cutting yourself. i still love the song though, i think its great!

This Song Glorifies CUTTING YOURSELF | Reviewer: Derek Foley | 1/31/08

First let me start by saying this song is sad in the deepest of ways. The singer makes it very clear that he is "down". He wants to "shine through the down" which is both a nod to the shininess of the thing he is using to cut himself, and also to his glorified state through physical pain (cutters often refer to this process as "release" or "elevation") The singer shares his "glory" with the object he is using to cut himself, thus, "our time to shine". He has become so enamored with the process that he "falls in love" with the "beautiful THING"(not a person) he uses to cut himself, and celebrates that he has found a new "box of sharp objects" that he can use for cutting. He feels as though the pain is the only thing that is real "today I fell and felt better, just knowing this matters" AND HE MAKES SURE WE GET THE POINT when he says "I just felt stronger AND SHARPER". This is an obvious song, and you who think its about a relationship have to ask why he taunts his audience "You want a song of glory? WELL I'M FUCKING SCREAMING AT YOU!" He implies that it is glorious to cut himself, he is relishing in his perverse obsession and the song is a tribute to his razors. The man needs Jesus. If any of you think there is a problem with my analysis, E-mail me, and I will lay your doubts to rest.

This song is not about the material or the tangible, such as loving a boyfriend or girlfriend. This song is an extended mmetaphor for falling in love with music. "A Box Full of Sharp Objects" is a metaphor for a staff of music with musical notes inside of it. Ber is saying he fell in love with music and it saved his life. If you know anything of his history, this makes a ridiculous amount of sense. But I think he left the metaphor open so each of us that listens to this song can interpret it how we will, because it will mean something different to all of us. Beautiful.

Perfect song for me | Reviewer: taylor(suki) | 1/24/08

agreeing with "kfm", this song , to me, is about loving someone so much that it hurts. I'm 15 and have been in love with this guy for almost a years and a half now. This song if perfect for me because i love him so much that it hurts. we met three years ago when me and my family and my , now adopted, sister went to the beach on a vacation...it was a miracle that i met him there because he is the love of my life and always will be. This is the most perfect song for me....members of the used, THANK YOU!

hell yeah | Reviewer: KFM. | 1/6/08

this song is fantastic. What I get from it is that this person loves somebody so much it hurts.

This song always makes me think about a guy that I love like that too. Him and I always go on bowl cruises and blast this song. Things are getting really complicated between the two of us right now but all I do is listen to this song and it makes me smile again.
