This is the day | Reviewer: JACKS | 1/29/2008This is such a simple and honest song, I'm 40 years old and it makes me nostolgic for my days of youth when anything seemed possible....now I am still optimistic but also realistic...the lyrics are bitter sweet...on one hand the person knows he or she has to change their current life style (which can be anything and allows all listeners to relate to the song), and plegdes each morning "this is the day" but I get the feeling the person does not follow through and thus "this is the day" starts off their day...everyday.....sad but sweet.

It is fascinating you are so quick to judge. As in life and art what the artist is saying is clear. Yet we should be free to see what we want.
I agree that he is singing about his abuses. But what I see is someone trying to escape from the confines of the cocoon he has created.
You may see gloom in and doom and yet, I see there is still a glimmer of hope. That you can press forward to a new and better tomorrow.
your other reviews sucks ! | Reviewer: frederick smith sedi | 6/16/2007
this song is about telling its audience us, that all those nights of drinking and cocaine binging cannot be taken back , and that even though you may be making plenty money, no amount of money will pay or compensate in any way for those wasted days.
It is his own life experecince of being rock musicison & loaded on drugs that has then led him into a life of solitude and all he has left are his photos of old friends and glory days photos, which so like there gone to him.
but what he does have is this song hehas created from this sorrow for us and all the world to share and compare, with our own experiences !
How it fits into the m&m song is beyond me...
come on people learn rock n roll try the transplants for some rawness
I love the song and the M&Ms commercials | Reviewer: rainlily | 6/7/2007
Great song! I love how the song and the M&Ms commecials go together. I was going to ask around about the song but I did a google search and found out the title and the band. I remember the band but not the song. :)
What the . . . | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/24/2007
This song for some reason makes me want to eat massive amounts of M&M's!
The The - a band underrated. | Reviewer: Bwanna | 2/20/2007
This, like SO many The The tunes, helps weave the image into the tapestry of our daily lives. It's a shame their name draws so many a blank look.
This is the Day - en eternal tune | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/16/2005
I heard the lyrics of this "THE THE" song on the radio this morning, and even though it made me late for my train, I had to sit in my parked car until the end. A simple and memorable melody, with a joyous brass accompaniment, and somewhat moving nostalgic lyrics that brought a small tear to my 45-year old eyes.
