This song is about living life the way that you want to live it. If other people want to live it differently then that's fine. Life is about pleaseing yourself and other's, because you only live once.

for all those who have criticized the opinions of others of this son and what they think about it you are doing completely the opposite of what the song says. they have all the right to put their insights of the song and religion, its up to you if you want to read it or not.

I actually think it is a great song and as many others have stated is a song of enjoying life to the fullest and that one by being open minded (cultures, thoughts, religions, etc) receives more knowledge and makes it easier to live it to the fullest as one in a sense finds their self, their personality.
(This is just my opinions, you might have a completely another one)

over analysing | Reviewer: strokes | 8/12/09

why is everyones answer to each song by the strokes, "it's linked to him being an alcoholic" its one of their most happy songs! i know it makes me feel instantly happy each time i hear it. Don't drag it down with complicated matters..
"sit me down, shut me up, i'll calm down and i'll get along with you"

i think it means you only live once we all think different ways you could choose one or the other but he points out different aspects of life different personalities nothing with religion that is hes opinion we should all respect it

get over yourselves | Reviewer: cait | 5/4/09

you guys need to relax. why did you look up the lyrics of this song? to leave your ignorant comments on whether or not you believe in god? my belief is that god exists and there are hundreds of religions to choose from to believe or not believe in him. the song is right, just be what you are. there is nothing wrong with this song. its just amazing. stop over analyzing everything sheesh.

Sadness | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/15/09

The lyrics are supposed to say
"and countless add religions, too"...not "and countless odd religions, too".
This is fact...how many religions are there??!! :D

I find it funny how so many people will analyze and break apart every little piece of such a beautiful song. We're not sitting here trying to convince each other if God is real or not. Let people believe what they want. We're all living on this world together whether we like it or not. The song is just trying to say..."live it up"! :)

Woah. Everyone chillax. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/7/09

I think everyone is taking that one verse and blowing it way out of proportion. You only live once, so you shouldn't try to shun others out of your life based on religion. End of story. That's that verse, in a sentence.

But the song is beautiful, and it's saying live life to the fullest with an open mind.
That's the best way to live. :)

God is as real as these words | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/28/09

that's because of the original sin. GOd is not a magic wizard that you call when you are in trouble. Imagine how many scientists have tried to figure out the beginning of the world and how they have tried to imitate God's creation, even though they have a lot of knowledge, they haven't. God has done a sacrifice of Love for you and for me...He has even allowed you to think He doesn't exist.

If you look for evidence of His existence through History, you will find...how can you say that then?

Get real | Reviewer: anonymous | 3/11/09

You say christ wasn't the son of god. That's not even the half of it. See, there are all these religions, but christ was the one God that gave his life to people. He made the blind men see. He is sower the seeds. We all (regardless of religion and belief) have our life and sins attoned for by his blood, and other religions believe that you're not worthy and we're evil sinners, bound to burn in hell unless we believe their faith. And I don't worship a church, I worship God. Come on, you only live once, but you also die. Repent.

Philosophy | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/14/09

I agree with the idea that this is an individuals opinion, and also that you can interpret it whichever way you want (bible bashing/alcoholism/Acceptance of god) I dont mind religions, as long as they keep thier damn agendas out of my way. Im tired of every religion proclaiming that they have it right. Chrisitanity is deeply flawed. Christ son of god? really according to who? the Bible? and who wrote the Bible? god. So did god come down from the sky and write out the bible? No, well then how did he write the Bible?. and so on and so forth. Hinduism why do we worship elephants and cows? Islam.. dont even get me started. So yes, i agree this song can be whatever you want it to be, and so in that case is philosophical as it makes you reflect. "just love the song, love your choices about your life, and smile." what utter bullshit. Love you choices i mean seriously what if you choose to rape and kill? dont love so much now do you?
