Song Meaning and Perks of Being a Wallflower | Reviewer: Emma | 7/17/09

This some is about someone who is extremely lonely and is talking about suicide (that would be the falling asleep part).

Don't try to wake me in the morning
'Cause I will be gone
-(meaning he'll be dead)
I just wanted to say this because tons of people are putting theories out and, of course I can't be certain because I'm not the writer of the song, but I am almost positive of the meaning because I feel the exact same way.
Also, about the Perks of Being a Wallflower, I thought that the other of that book was extremely creative in putting that song into the book because I think they relate so well and it's interesting to find something outside of the book that seems like it's just another chapter or something... great book if you haven't read it, I recommend it.

Absolutely amazing | Reviewer: Kristina | 6/29/09

Right after I finished ' The Perks of Being a Wallflower ' , I straight away went back to the song listing for the mixtape.
And to be honest this song, is just so good. It related so much to the novel, same with the other songs. I'm so glad I have read it.
I'm now going to have to re-read the novel soon, since i'm entering High School just like he did.

This song, just makes me think of a better world.
It's nice and peaceful.

Love it. | Reviewer: SleepyWabbit | 6/10/09

Actually, yeah, I looked up the song after reading the book. And I like the song a lot. It has this calm thing about it.. a real kinda soothing effect.
I listened to it a lot of times today and kinda understood the words and all... I think it's sung by a dying child. Everyone has a different viewpoint.. and I wonder why, but I feel as if this is some dying kid.. you know, the kind that has some terminal illness or something similar. It's... poignant, that's what it is.

All in all, I love this song.

i love it. | Reviewer: hannah<3 | 4/20/09

yes like most of you others i have read the perks of being a wallflower, first when i was only in 5th grade and again recently, i'm now in 9th grade. and yes that is where i found the song. i can relate to charlie a lot and since he mentioned how much he liked this song i had to look it up...the first time i heard it i honestly cried my eyes out to the point where i could barely breathe. no other song has provoked that kind of emotion from me. it's an amazing song and the book is just as moving so to anyone who hasn't read it yet i highly recommend doing so. and to anyone who disses the book or song, well that's just your loss.

for those that want to find similar music... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/9/09

So I'm 36 years old and just read TPOBAW. Yes, an "adult" can relate to a "Teen Emo" book. We all went through similar experiences it doesn't just go away.

About the music: Of course I had heard of the Smiths and know a bit of their music. But I did not know this song and had to check it out. It is amazing and beautiful. To all those complaining about people finding the song from the book. Would you rather they not find the song at all? I'm glad people find art through other art.

With that said, and as another example of art through art... I would recommend to anyone who enjoyed the book and this song to check out a lesser-known Oasis B-side. (seriously, Oasis!)

"Talk Tonight" which can easily be found on "The Masterplan" rarities collection. Or search your favorite MP3 site. Enjoy.

Sing me to Sleep.
I'm tired and I, want to go to bed

I guess I could say this song helps me not feel so bad about life or even about myself. Sometimes I lie awake feeling like the most lonliest person on the planet but this song it just, makes me like its okay to feel that way...as weird as it may sound. Either way The Smiths are incredible just like this song :)

Sad & Depressing | Reviewer: George | 3/18/09

This song is of a dismal and discouraging character. It has a depressing message and causes one to regret and have sorrow. I personally do not enjoy listening to songs of that nature. It connects to TPOBAW because Charlie is an unexposed individual taking life at full force, and learning about things that he did not even have of knowledge of.

woooooooooooohhhh | Reviewer: skyee | 3/12/09

Asleep | Reviewer: Joe | 3/11/09

I think this song relates to people because they are lazy and want to stay in bed. They just do nothing, just sleeping. This is a powerful andrelateful song, A lot of people don;t want to wake up, but they do any ways because they have. If they didn't have a choice they would probably go bad to bed and sleep.

ASLEEP | Reviewer: h2opollo | 3/11/09

I believe that this song tells a lot to many different people. People should listen to the lyrics and then they can relate to the song. Instead some individuals might judge it right away then switch the song off. Therefore, people and this songs meaning could be the exact opposite. The song writers don't want people to judge their song they want them to understand to open their hearts to others.
