I'm sure the story of how it so widely became associated with them would make for an interesting one, seeing as how G Tom Mac aka Gerard McMann is credited with performing and writing the song on the Lost Boys Soundtrack and the Sisters of Mercy to my knowledge have never even covered it (i've got a decent selection of bootlegs). So, show Mr. McMann some respect and check it out.
