Haunting and Moving.... | Reviewer: Gigirenee | 6/25/07

On the sweet sorrow of the end of a dream shared with another. I have lived this song...every word a metaphor for the demise of something I had so true and "pissed on" so many many times.

This song is marvelous, I'm trying to find out a meaning useful for me. The lyrics are magic and the music seems to be from a dream.

I think nobody compares with this modern poet James Mercer.

If there IS a better lyricist on the indie scene then I haven't come across them yet. Keep up the fabulous work Mr. Mercer.

I've been obsessed with this song ever since I got my hands on Wincing the Night Away. At first it was an attraction to the "gorgeous, yet willfully opaque" lyrics that I had read about in an online review. But after listening to the song 1,000 times in the past couple of weeks I've finally landed upon a personally satisfying interpretation of Red Rabbits. I hope everyone out there enjoys finding their own path through the song as much as I did.

Lastly, is there a better poet in the contemporary indie music scene than James Mercer?
