i think | Reviewer: bella | 4/6/09

it's just about a memory he's got about great times with somebody he had to lose. just because they couldn't live together. they wanted to but it didn't work out. now he's losing this great times and that's not what he meant with going alone.

yea | Reviewer: tony1124 | 4/15/08

so ive always thought it was just a poetic love song but for the first time.......i think this might be about murder...just some of the lines, the kite thing and cutting them off(the only way he could let go was to kill her) tied to a brick tossing over ramparts.....it happened BEFORE murder was cool meaning he did it all on his own with influence. idk i might just be over thinking it completely but.....maybe

simply. astounding. | Reviewer: Ariel | 1/31/08

The shins are great without a doubt. They know how to find the right words, and say so little but explain so much. Emotion and poetry are definatly their element.
They are the kind of band who can intellectually use metephores and different plots other than the typical songs now a day mostly based on sex, drugs, violence, and "cry my heart out" lovey dovey stuff. And although, yes, don't get me wrong, they do make songs similar to it, but in a smarter more open and poetic way thats more pleasing to listen to.

A Special Song...Pink Bullets | Reviewer: Mark P | 1/16/08

Every so often I discover a song that brings emotions from within me that makes me come back over and over to re-live that certain feeling that I just cannot explain...Pink Bullets is one of those special songs.
The paper cows and those sad eyes are a perfect video compliment to portrait outward simplicity toward the deep and complex nature of love, and loss. Thank you "The Shins" for bringing this to me.

bittersweet | Reviewer: Angie | 9/2/07

Don't we all have one of these bittersweet relationship memories? The melody, his voice and the lyrics are the perfect storm of expressing that feeling of having loved someone to early to really understand how to nurture a relationship.

My Experience | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/8/07

I went to see the shins live at a music festival in Australia called splendour in the grass... though they didn't play this song, it parallels my experience before during and after...
i didn't know what i was missing...
it was the greatest thing i've ever experienced while it lasted...
and i don't know what to do with myself now it's over... all i've got is the memory

the parallelism is great. he fantastically brings all the motifs together in the end. lyrically great and musically advanced, really showcases the authors tone well.i love this song.

My opinion | Reviewer: cassie | 3/25/07

The shins use a ton of metaphors, which is whats so great about them. It showcases their talent in writing. Anywho, this one is clearly about a relationship that's no longer in existance but still has a huge impact on the lyracists thoughts. The first stanza suggests she was nothing he had ever dealt with, in a refreshing way, she set herself apart from any girl he'd ever known.
The kite reference is suggesting that in order to move on in life, they had to cut off all ties but doing it was for the best.
I won't say much more, because it's best to let it have your own meaning.

Question | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/3/07
