great song | Reviewer: Ruby T | 11/11/09
I find this song easy to interpret, but i fail to put it's meaning in good words :P
I can relate this song to many people, like possibly a very conservative leader... Or just someone who thinks they know everything.
i think i know | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/6/08
this is how i interpret this song:
this song is prolly about someone the singer knows, and likes. he is fond of them, yet he has gotten into a confrontation/argument with them(perhaps unintentionally) and realizes this person is very vain and not the person he originally met (or wanted them to be). still, everyone finds this person irresistable (as does the singer) even though this person thinks too highly of themself.
it's too hard for me to tell if the singer rejects this person or finds him too irresistable to deny. but i would guess the singer gets rid of this person, cause he says "dont ask for his opinion" he's evil and should be drowned in holy water. maybe he's jealous......
At least u speak english | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/6/07
If you think that finding a meaning to the shin's lyrics is difficult, u don't know how difficult is for me, cause i barely speak english and i'm a great fan of The Shins (here, in argentina, almost nobody knows them). the only song i understood what is it about is "A call to apathy", cause is quite simple. the shins are one of the greatest bands standing. it's sad that nobody knows it here.
