Pete Doherty and Carl Barat's new bands, Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things are just as good. Too bad i missed the boat on the Libertines libertines | Reviewer: seth | 8/9/2007 Carl Barat and Pete Doherty are possibly the 2 most talented musicians of the 20/21st century. Their debut single 'what a waster' is a unique angry rock and roll track, used in the film 'football factory', stunned listners around the UK. Along with 'the strokes' they kickstarted a huge movement of indie rock. Their debut album 'up the bracket' is a real classic with a really unique sound. Songs like 'up the bracket' and 'time for heroes' stand out not only for their sound, but for the poetic lyrics by doherty. Their next album, the libertines, was released in 2004 and was just as good as the 1st, however shortly after this the band split. Two new bands are now formed with Doherty in 'Babyshambles', and Carlos in 'Dirty pretty things', both of which are equally good. The Libertines were quite frankly an incredible band that will be remembered forever. What to say about The Libs? Pete and Carl, are genious, Pete poetic, Carl full of energy, mixed together, made great tunes. They have everything, the lyrics, the voice, the talent, the guitars, great drums, bass, the look, the attitude. Had a hit like Time for Heroes, Don't look back into the sun, etc, simpley they made 2 albums, 2 PERFECT albums, what else could you ask?? That they didnt break appart of course! They didn't sell well, but they are now in the rock history, hate it or love it, if they have a second chance together, they could be massive, no doubt. Just listened to them once, and i felt in love, was just perfect, so people out there, listen to them. Their music is brilliant and lyrics as well. Its a shame that they doesnt play together any more. The first record is amazing, you wont be dissapointed if you start to listen it. All of their songs are honest and ruthless yet so beautiful and passionate. The story of Carl and Pete makes them even more captivating. The Libertines music is the best around, even though they've been apart for a year. The tunes are so catchy and the lyrics are wonderful but apart from this, the most striking thing about The Libertines is their personality which shines through so well in all of the songs.
