Probably the most public band collapse song ever | Reviewer: neutron | 7/16/07
This is a current and future classic, full of acrimony, angst, bitternes and yet still delivers the absolute message that these boys were fucking great pals destroyed by trainspotter fuel. Compile a playlist with the likes of the Sex pistols' 'Pretty vacant', Nirvana's 'She hates me' plus a bit of Morissey and the like then grab some Stella and enjoy at the expense of your neigbours!

Excellent | Reviewer: Tomasz Kowalczyk | 4/17/07
Quote from an earlier review -
"ripping with a complete disregard for all musical rules and regulation"
I disagree that this song breaks "all music rules". In fact , the opposite, this is a prime example of simple western music. 4/4 time signature, major chords, in fact, it is very poppy. Pete Doherty's scrappy guitars and vocals are excellent, and th production is top notch. My point is that this is very conventional (and excellent).
Looking Back | Reviewer: Lucy | 4/4/07
This song was The Libertines' finest single, not necessarily their best track though. The two albums were simply brilliant and it saddens me when I hear ths song (as it was released when The Libertines, and Pete and Carl's relationship had almost crumbled) to think of what they could have produced had they stayed together longer. It just goes to show what drugs can do to a relationship which seems so special, strong and unique.
good | Reviewer: whaay | 4/2/07
it would be better if pete doherty wasnt such a knob
Where's the beef? | Reviewer: jimmyboy | 2/8/07
the lyrics of this song are awesome, but i dunno 'bout the delivery to be honest. when the band made this they were HELLA pissed at eachother so where's the anger? the bitter resentment? i dunno, just seems a song about a break-up shouldn't be so mellow. but who the fuck am i to comment, it's Pete an' Carl and there's no way i know better than them.
Agree | Reviewer: Miguel | 6/10/06
I couldnt agree less with the last review, i always see this song as a frew breath for the punk music, and i can see how many bands came up with new tune while listenning or basing on this song. Cause its just perfect, the voices and the arrange, couldnt be better, its simply honest, romantic and sad. Can go down to history, as The Libertines as well.. Legends from our era.
My Review | Reviewer: Mikaila | 3/13/06
This song is purley fantastic. It brings back all the elements of early punk. Roar, ripping with a complete disregard for all musical rules and regulation. You can hear the honesty in the song with Pete and Carl singing back and forth to eachother. It is a pure and genius lyric and will go down in history as helping start the re-revolution of indie and punk rock!
Can't Stand me Now-Yes I can! | Reviewer: Angie | 4/2/05
Firstly before i begin to talk about this song, I'll admit that yes, I have written 2 reviews about other Libertines songs, and probably more by the time you read this-What Became Of The Likely Lads was one, and Time For Heroes another. Also I would like to point out to the reviewer 'Jesus' that it's Carl not Karl-duh!
This song is the most famous and well known of The Libertines' songs. It is fresh, cool and branded with the London vibe. I love it-who wouldn't fall in love with it, It can be compared to London Calling or any other great song in the whole history of music, and for me, still come out on top. It has a wonderful honesty in it, hidden benmeath the music and lyrics you can tell what mood they were in when they wrote it, you can feel what they felt-it truely is a masterpiece of modern music. With its amazing guitars, bass and drums, this song is a pleaser to everyone. Whether you love Pete's unusual vocals, Carl's guitars, Gary's drums or John's bass, theres something in here for everyone-wonderful, wonderful stuff.
