Listen to the song more. it has nothing to do with god, it does, but its not really what the song is aimed to be perceived by. it is about Isaac and a hard time concerning family times and such. look it up on wikipedia.com

This song is class, the first line was the thing that made my ears prick up and really listen to the words, he's asking all through the song "where were you?" maybe he needed to lose everything to find who he really needed...
the lyrics are good... appart from the first line | Reviewer: what does it matter? | 3/14/09
"I found God" if that wasn't in the song, it would be good. It doesn't give the listener a chance to think about what the song is about... it's the first line! "I found God" "oh, it must be about him finding God" if it didn't have that line it would be better for two reasons...
1) It wouldn't give away what the song is about and not in the first line
2) It would allow the listener to relate it to personal experiences etc

I love this song. I think it questions what everyone questions. I think he's lost someone close to him and he's asking why.
"losing her, the only one who knew who I am, who I'm not, and who I ought to be".
Good Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/11/09
I feel that the song brings to mind a very real point. Pain and Suffering we all go through, and we ask, "Where's God?"
MAN! Intense. I remember those days.
If there's anyone who feels that they need answers, read, "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. It will definitely shed some light on doubt.
Touching, heart-wrenching | Reviewer: Amanda | 2/8/09
This is really good...the first time I heard this song was when I had seen the video...though the images aren't what stayed in my mind. It was the first line, "I found god on the corner of First and Amistad." Considering that I'm still questioning Christianity, I'm not going to make a religious speech but simply I'm sure we all wonder if there even is a god during our times of crisis. This really is sad, but the words are very true. "Where were you?"

I've always been a fan of The Fray, but this song is more raw and powerful than any of their other ones.
I think all believers of God ask him sometimes.."where were you in my time of need?"
It's very difficult to understand that he's up above looking down on us, but somewhere deep our hearts we know he's there.
I think that's what the band was trying to portray.
