The Reviews about Girl Anachronism (page 1/ 2)
------ performed by The Dresden Dolls

My Interpretation | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/28/2008

From someone who was wrongly medicated, I feel that she's making fun of the way everyone is medicated now. How people think that as soon as anyone acts out of the 'ordinary', we just cram pills do their throats.

It's a message to people who have recovered from the medication fad, and I love this song all the more for it.

Life Saving | Reviewer: Tristin | 8/19/2008

This song is truely one amazing song, I remember on theray session I had when I was asked to let out my emotions in song, I started singing this song and I imidiatly felt better. I have borderline and manic depression(Im getting ALOT better) ad I listen to this song everytime I want to do something horrible, and I think it captures what someone would be feeling, and the other feelings of someone trying to help as someone sid earlier. this song is simply a life saver.

In my German teacher's face | Reviewer: PJ | 3/6/2008

This is just perfect, awfully catchy, if I may say so. It has such a great, panicked beat and fast lyrics. I said "I AM THE GIRL ANACHRONISM" to my German teacher when she told me I should go see a doctor. I'm afraid she didn't take it quite well.

I happen to have cracks in my hips. Or something like it >o<

LOVE it!!^_^ | Reviewer: Chloe | 1/5/2008

This is one of my favorite songs. Out of about 850 songs on my I-pod this is one of the songs i play most frequently(this and Dirty Business, Coin operated boy and a few of their other songs). I have all of my friends listen to it(literally). Even my friends who are obsessed with Akon love the Punk Cabaret style of the dresden dolls.

Genuis Lyrics | Reviewer: Georgiana | 11/27/2007

This is such an intelligent song - it totally manages to simultaneously say so much about how it feels to be a bit...well, f**ked-up in the head, and at the same time sum it up so neatly.

I've been having counselling because of self-harm issues lately (don't worry; I'm well on the road to recovery!), and this song's so perfect. It just completely captures being desperate for help and yet not really knowing HOW anyone can help. It's like something's gone horribly wrong with everything, and yet you can't quite describe what it is.

Without getting into a debate, I personally reckon it captures that feeling way better than say, Marilyn Manson's tangled, metaphorical, humourless preaching or Evanescence's flowery-lyriced self-pity. Presenting the issue from the angles of all the people trying to help instead of just a victim singing about her poor little feelings, is what makes this Dresden Dolls song so much cleverer. It's smart.

They pinned me | Reviewer: K | 9/26/2007

I first heard this song a few weeks after I returned from a mental hospital where I was being treated for serious depression, suicidal tendancies and oh yeah I'm autistic. This song describes me perfectly and I truly feel many people are touched by it

<3 | Reviewer: Lindsay | 8/25/2007

This song got to me the first time I heard it. My favorite band is My Chemical Romance, and Gerard Way had mentioned The Dresden Dolls in an interview. So I checked them out. This song describes me in ways so well, it's incredible. The Dresden Dolls. Pure Genius.<3

Love It... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/6/2007

This is by far one of the best songs that I've ever heard. The text is so perfectly woven in this myriad of madness, I simply love it.
The Dresden Dolls are really great.

Amazing | Reviewer: Leanna | 6/21/2007

This song, along with the entire works of The Dresden Dolls are absolutely amazing. This song is incredible, along with each and every one of their songs, nothing sounds the same, each one is so unique and filled with absolute talent and drive.

A better song the second, or maybe third time through | Reviewer: K | 5/24/2007

I am a huge dresden dolls song, and I think I first heard this song under the wrong circumstances. I was at summer camp and it was late at night, I was tired, and developing a headache. There was this very peppy girl who was like "listen to this song!" and shoved her headphones into my ears. The first hectic moments of the song had me clawing the headphones out, but after half of my hall singing "coin operated boy", which I fell in love with, I decided to give the band another chance. I asked to listen to her iPod, and found the song, and realized that it was incredible. I listened to it the whole way a couple of times, and every time discovered another level of Amanda Palmers masterful songwriting and came to appreciate the song even more. Needless to say I rushed out and bought both albums shortly thereafter.
