Name usage, general review | Reviewer: Anna | 11/9/09
Angry Jenny,
Get over it. I have to put up with my name being used in horrid contexts, and unfortunately it seems to be popular with recent b-movie quality horror.
The name use gives it the feel of a cheesy 50's perfect world picture, and it sounds upbeat, which of course fits the tune but clashes with the meaning.

I really love sarcastic songs. The Dresden Dolls have many, which makes me happy. <3
It kind of seems like its' about how the world sucks from a general view, and then how when some try to help, they just make things more difficult.

It would be quite a lot better if she didn't use relatively normal names in her songs. I'm a pessimist, and this song fits me in certain ways, but in others it's just insulting.
I know she wasn't writing about me,but it's still obnoxious to hear my name used in her context.
Lyrics from the record | Reviewer: Stephanie | 6/30/08
Sometimes Amanda just switches the lyrics around on stage, and these are probably lyrics from live performances so I thought I'd add in lyrics from the record.

live (sometimes): "Amber goes berserk completely; she's been here since last December."
on the record: "Amber goes the hotline, we're all friends but no one ever answers."

live (sometimes): "Sad, but true—the high-gloss paint won't tell you what to do."
on the record: "Sad, but true-the two of us might really make it through."
