I can tell you if you enjoy this music, then you will enjoy "The Weepies" and :The Fray" Genius | Reviewer: Jack | 3/6/2005 I recommend The Decemberists and any of their cd's to anyone who appreciates a rather calm yet complicated musical arrangement coupled with inventive lyrics that are fresh, metaphorical, sophisticated, and ultimately memorable, even if at times maudlin and self-conscious. The result is quite genius, but as a sum may not be as enjoyed as those who are literary-minded. This is not a dumb band, cliched band, lipsyncing band, or a marketing machine hyped by a greedy industry, glossed up and positioned by catch-phrases, anthems, signature kitsch, or dress-up. This is a group of musicians that put their significant talents together in a seemingless experience. I consider The Decemberists to be one of the very few bands that are wholly original and one of the very few musical acts in any genre that is actively writing and creating something new.
