White Riot They don't write songs like this anymore | Reviewer: randy thomson | 2/24/09

This song has stood the test of time. The first punk song I ever heard besides Love's"7 and & Is" it still sounds fresh, more than thirty years later. The Clash were, for a few years there, "The only band that mattered." There's so much energy in the song, singing simple, but effective lyrics, and Mick Jones was just beginning to show what he could pull off on guitar. They shouldn't have let their egos get in the way and tear themselves apart. They were needed long after we had to play their old stuff to hear something that meant anything.
