But of course Allons is French | Reviewer: Michel | 4/14/12

But of course "alons" (or, better yet, "allons") is a French word, meaning "let's go". Just remember, "Allons enfants de la patrie ..."
However, it isn't clear whether Maurice Gibb wanted to express "allons" or "alors" when he composed this song. We shall never know.

Meaning of Lamplight | Reviewer: Fred | 7/3/08

After 40 years I still get goosebimps listening to the song.
I have always wondered if it is about a love lost due to drugs, common in the Sixties.
Or an abortion.
Strange also the French intro.
Setting reminds one of Lili Marleen.
What do you think?

"Alons" is not a french word | Reviewer: Alfred | 5/7/07

Probably "Alors" is the correct word. Alternative is "Allons". But my french speaking friend says, "alors" fits better.
