listened it without paying attentions to the lyrics, and i understood "making me feel like i've never been born" as something positive. (times, when it was all allright... )

It's true what the previous person said about it being an LSD trip. The Beatles were tripping with Peter Fonda when he said "I know what it's like to be dead." Lennon was immediately taken with that statement, however, George Harrison was completely freaked out by the statement and hencforth waas freaked out by Peter Fonda, as well...

This song makes perfect sense, to me anyhow. His girlfriend is explaining her problems, her experiences as though she is the only person ever to have experienced them.
So he tells her she is not the only one to have those experiences, he had them too. But she doesn't listen - she thinks she is misunderstood, but he is crying for help in just the same way that she is. The same way that we all are. They are both looking for sympathy, but unable to give it. The relationship feels cold. So, he is thinking back to a time when everything was alright. For Lennon, it may be his childhood with his Aunt Mimi - life is uncomplicated before we head into some relationships.
And even when he gives an indication that he wants to leave that cold relationship - her pities turn even more to herself by repeating the first lines. Both parties are selfish. I don't think the song is random at all, but it is an incredible song.

This is an awesome song! I love listening to it, and even though it doesn't exactly make sense and is pretty random, it's easy listening and fun to sing along to!
