" The answer is yes ; she was a real person . The real Eleanor Rigby was born in 1895 and lived in Liverpool , Wales ; possibly in the suburb of Woolton , where she married a man named Thomas Wood . She died on October 10 , 1939 at the age of 44 . Whether she's the lady Paul inspired the song to is not known ; but her tomb has become a landmark to Beatles fans visiting Liverpool .
