I was touched by the loneliness and the desperation from the music, the chords, and especially Rick Danko's singing. And only later when I learned to understand the english language I was amazed again that the lyrics told exactly what I had felt before by only hearing the music. Thank you Rick. I feeel this song represents beautifully The Band. the other song similar is The weight. However, this is a true love song of heart ache and pain and played "oh so well". I learnt it as a repetoire for when i play other songs like Tom Waits "Old Shoes". But that`s not about remembering it`s about "i have to go". 2 great songs. this is my favorite BAND song!
