There is a price for freedom | Reviewer: Johnny | 1/20/08

...and cowards will sell out anyone, at any cost...at a much higher cost than those willing to die to let others live in freedom.
Don't get me wrong, I welcome the voice of anyone, whether I agree with them or not. I support the war though tactically Bush has been stubborn on the need to change direction and tactics. Looks like in the past 6 months he has swallowed his pride and is heading the efforts against terrorism in the right direction. The results are showing. I dont support a lot of the things President Bush stands for or has done on domestic issues. He has been wrong on many matters of the war, but has been steadfast in standing up against terrorists - the 21st Century Bullies. That says so much more with his predecessor (BC) who shrugs his shoulders when asked what he did to prevent terrorism and offers the same old line - "I tried!" Sorry, not hard enough, and now we are cleaning up your mess.

When did we get so stupid? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/17/08

"Well i have no clue what the song is about but like it. I like Bush to. If we didnt go to war they would have bombed someone else and would have gotten away with it."

It's not terribly surprising that someone who thinks that Iraq had anything to do with 911 and doesn't know the difference between "to" and "too" lacks interpritive ability. Learn about homophones friend, and mix in some modern history while you're at it. The world might make more sense to you.

totally sweet | Reviewer: TLN | 1/16/08

this song gets me thinking everytime i hear it, its like a deep dark cloud pressing on my soul and i feel all the pain the world has wrought on its self. veteran respect, political standings, the obscruity of being an avid church goer and recieving nothing but pain and sorrow, life and its inevitable end. war, famine,depression....but it leaves me with a sence that we are leaning toward a better future, an almost happy ending if you will

love the song though
question EVERYTHING!

RE: Get a grip, strain-at-gnat politics! | Reviewer: right coast | 12/7/07

Alex -
the great thing about timeless music/artistry is the ability for interpretation. Its wonderful that both the left and the right can take away something from the song. i think you're just upset and want to defend your views in this forum. that's your right. but i think poo sums it up best: great x3, awesomeness. that's why we're here, great music. let's leave the political banter to drudgereport.com or whateveryourpoliticalwebsiteis.com

Could it be more like this... | Reviewer: Prostoskis | 10/31/07

Although i believe what it is that angelic says about it being about the Bush administration, could it not be about the crusades though? Or the romans? or any other major conquering power in history?

this song is one of my all time favourites! saw them live at leeds festival this year, they are awesome! such chemistry between the band is brilliant to see. I think they may have stood up the chillis a bit! Maybe... (?)

The Meaning of the Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/2/07

Those of you who think the interpretation of the song, as a political voice against the government, are totally and utterly correct. When he sings "The Kin's taken back thr throne," he's speaking of GW Bush. I know this first hand becasue I have seen them in concert three times, and each time, he makes sure to clarify that this is exactly what this song is about. They hate this war, this president, and the way this country is going so crazily right. There it is, like it or not.

WHAT THE F | Reviewer: Groovin | 9/22/07

ITS NOT HEAR THE SOLDIER GROAN WE'LL CRY ALONE. Change it right now, you ruining the song by saying that. The first time. Good job on the rest

music | Reviewer: adi | 9/21/07

hehe...i find it funny when people argue about the meaning of songs like this. it's pretty obvious that it can be taken as meaning any of these things. most likely all of them. that's the joy of song writing/art/anything like that - it's multi layered.

must say i tend to read into it more in a general way and an emotional way - but the bush adminstration stuff's interesting too...

In fact.. | Reviewer: Andrea | 9/21/07

"I do believe it correlates to the Bush administration as well..."

I can back you up 100 percent on that! I saw the Arcade Fire last night at the Hollywood Bowl and before they started this song, Win said "This song goes out to President Bush" (dedication?). So yes. This song is EPIC!!!
