intervention | Reviewer: Nichole | 9/18/07
This song is brilliance.
I do believe it correlates to the Bush administration as well...
The little baby sister could be referring to Canada?
This song is incredibly obscure so it would be interesting to hear all of your opinions on the meaning of this song.
Get a grip, strain-at-gnat politics! | Reviewer: Alex Hall | 9/8/07
I think these interpretations of the lyrics are utterly ridiculous, and I'm going to compare them to other equally illogical things.
..The king's taken back the throne ->Bush junior
-> Hillary/Bill as Hillary takes a Senator seat in NY
No place to hide
You were fighting as a soldier on their side
You're still a soldier in your mind
Though nothing's on the line ------>Bush family married to saudi oil
------>Hillary married to Barack Obama
Working for the church
While your family dies--->clear reference to the evangelical influence behind the administration, family being american citizens/soldiers
--->Clear reference to the marital strife and discord of Bill's affairs, family being church-goers
There's more, i know you americans need art spelled out for ya, so thought i'd help a bit.
wonderful and relevant song.
---->Heh, I really made some seemingly clever ways to puppet my politics which are otherwise completely irrelevant to this song.
Come on! If you need to get your Far Left Talking Points on, there are other forums *designed* for it. But while you're here, if America invaded countries just to grab oil, the Khartoum in Sudan would be far easier to knock down, and Sudan rests on one of the largest oil beds in the world. So why haven't we invaded the Khartoum!??
Here we go again... | Reviewer: angelic | 8/31/07
Hey dlp,
I wanted to remind you that there are Americans who are intelligent, critical thinkers, but then I remembered how boring that subject has become... almost as boring as applying stereotypes to over 1/4 million people (a large part undoubtably comprised of people from whatever country you reside in).
Yes, the references in "Intervention" are highly relevant to our current political situation. One of the best bands I have ever seen, can't wait for another show to come my way!
Genius | Reviewer: Conor | 8/30/07
I have nothing to declare but this songs genius. Well done arcade fire! I would also adhere to comments made that this song was written with focus on the Bush administration.
Awesomeness | Reviewer: Poo | 8/15/07

Passion is great.
Music is great.
Chemistry in the Band is obvious.
Just pure awesomeness.
great song | Reviewer: sven beheydt | 8/13/07
it could be a Nick Cave song and that's a big compliment. i never really cared a bout the arcade fire and i'm not sure if i do now, but i might buy the CD. brilliant song. if they can keep this level of music up WOW....
'Working for the Church ...' the true meaning... | Reviewer: JohnnyMac | 8/8/07
'Working for the Church while your family dies' -- is obvious reference to European families in the middle ages who would send a daughter or son to a cloister/monastery as to avoid the tough life the rest of the family would face throughout their lives (i.e. Black plague, War, famine etc..,)
Amazing | Reviewer: Fabio | 7/31/07
I see this song to very differente angle, not politicals, but emotional, i don´t know, maybe it´s just my side of seeing things.
I´m a Queen fan, but love great new bands and songs, Arcade Fire it´s a good surprise to me!

Please people, don't judge the Arcade Fire untill you have listened to them PROPERLY. hearing a clip on an add just wont do it. The passion Win Butler puts into his music is so immense, the entire band work so well together, with an incredible variety of instruments that all combine to make (in my opinion) THE greatest band at the moment..
