I interpret the lyrics to this song as a corpse in the back of a hearse. They don't have to drive, speak, they can watch the countryside. There is only peace in the backseat of a hearse. It plays on the title of the album as well as other lyrics in this song - my family tree is losing all it's leaves.

while they were recording funeral many of their family members had died. thats the reason of the name of the album "funeral" and " My family tree's

She reeled me in with the delicate declaration of peace that rests in the backseat, but as she draws me in deeper, I begin to feel the crescendo of pain and agony .... the essense of "what now?" Her cries tell me she's feeling so lonely, not prepared for what she needs to do...the violins sing the song of despair, telling their stories with confusion, trying to make sense of it all. Alice died.

The song reels the audience into her delicate, unstable, contentedness..making the backseat a safe haven. she draws the listeners inward to experience a crescendo of a dreaded agony,.. her uncertainties, her pain...and her pleads. The confused violins are singing a song of chaos: an uneasiness of life, then lost.

This song is so beautiful, it has a calmness yet its so tragic, when I read the lyrics to this song I thought they were so beautiful. It has such a good tune with Nature aswell.
5 outta 5!

Alice Died... | Reviewer: Sparky | 2/16/07
This song touches me every time because of the emotion within it. It tells a story in each lyric and the way the singer wails her pain at the end is so deep... it makes me cry.
