I agree with you Anonymous but the problem is people who argue against the D being the best probably don't have lives. Tenacious D FTW!

I thought all extra-awesome rockstars are skinny. That was before JB. Jack Black is the only fat-ass true rocker of all time. And it's so admirable that his loyalty to Rock is shown by his every works. He's a preserver of "good music" and an inspirational figure for those of you who are a li'll out of shape......

Please dont hate the song. u dont have to get all into it about the whole bloody thing. i love it personally and think its just the best song.:) so if ur gonna hate on something just keep it to urself we really dont want to know and personally dont care. Just enjoy the music.

Tenacious D the greatest song in the world i thing they are not the best cause on theyr tours they never came up to PORTUGAL the greatest coutry in the world xP....well i m here cause a a friend told me the song "tribute" has parts and rithms from other songs .what i want to know wich bands and songs are in this song.....

i agree with Long Live The D and for the people who are saying that this song is talking about the duel with the devil, well that just cant be. in this song the demon challenges them, but in the movie they challenge the devil so it obviously cant be the "best song in the world." oh and best song in the world is master exploder fools buts thats just an opinion LOL

ok all shut up and listen to what i have to say, this song is the funniest, my favourite bit WHIP-CRACK WENT HIS WHIPPET TAIL. i also noticed that Jack Black talks about kyle bieng in the song but he doesnt sing, or does he just play guitar?!

In the song they talk about how they were hitchhiking and the demon appeared, in the movie, they were going to play a show, when they walk outside to retrieve the broken POD, these are different encounters with a devil.

If you guys know anything about The D, you should know they formed quite a long time ago. The movie Pick of Destiny was released in 2006 and so was the album. Years before that, they made "Tribute" which appeared on their self titled album Tenacious D. During that time they had a HBO series which is where the song first appeared. They've said that after JB played Metallica's "One" for KG, they said "its like the greatest song in the world" and tried to write a better one. They most likely imply that they made the greatest song in the world and forgot it, hence a tribute is made in its honor. Considering the fact Tribute was made before the Pick of Destiny, I say they reference Tribute in the movie and the greatest song in the world is either "Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown), "Stairway to Heaven" (because of similarities in both songs), or even a song not known to anyone. There really isn't a way to know since the lyric, "And the peculiar thing is this my friends / the song we sang on that fateful night / it didn't actually sound
anything like this song / This is just a tribute" shows it good be referring to any song. Its mainly a matter of opinion, but consider the inspiration for the song. Just a note to everyone, I'm not a whiny, "got to prove you wrong and not give in to your answer by being stubborn and pretending I'm right" type of person. I thought I should share my opinion and let others know opinions are NOT facts and that there is no need to argue over them. The one who is right is the one who can show the most reliable sources of correct information and state the reason why with that information. But of course, that can even be considered an opinion.

but what the hell. OK first the song is called TRIBUTE (to the greatest song in the world) and second, that is exactly what they say in the beginning of the song, "This is the greatest and best song in the world, trubute."

yeah, its a great song, and about beelzeboss. the song tribute came before beelzeboss, so they obviously made the song tribute look like it was tributing beelzeboss, but i have heard it was actually a tribute of stairway to heaven, not sure though.

WTF.They are talking about them in the POD movie,at the end they fight with the demon and they say the story in this song,at the very end they even say how that song went (the one which they used to defeat the devil) and they didn't remember and them saying that it sounds nothing like that song is nothing about what you said,humerous bullshit,it's about that that story of the best song in the world isn't the best song in the world and it dosen't sound like it cause they frogto the real best song in the world,which comes from beelzeboss.

actually this song is talking about belzeeboss (the final showdown. If you saw the movie then you'd know ... or just by listening to the line "im the devil i can do what i want" in the final showdown to know that the had a duel with the devil. and this song obviously talks about playing infront of the devil.

you guys are trying to say what song they're talking about, but they're just talking about the song they play in the movie. because in the movie, they see the devil and play a song. and then at the end of the movie they say, "dude... that song we played, was lke the bast song in the world..." "ya... howd it go?" "oh dude i dont remember either!" and then in this song they even say that they cant remeber how it goes

this is actually the funniest song ever. this is one of my favourite songs, it has humour in it where most other songs dont have any at all.
Jack Black ROCKS!!! funniest guy ever, makes me laugh SO much...its probably not the best song in the world (though i think it is very near the top) but it clearly says in the song...

so you people who say they re ripping off other songs just have no sense of humour..
