The Reviews about (Nothing But) Flowers (page 2/ 2)
------ performed by Talking Heads

One of the best songs ever | Reviewer: Maloy | 5/30/07

I can't believe how amazing this song is. I heard it covered by the bad ass band "Guster" and didn't realize it was written by Talking Heads. I think it's genius.

Irony and Spinal Shots | Reviewer: WHo? TheTed | 5/14/07

The song is brilliant, both words and music.
Equally a commentary on the idiocy of our modern destruction of nature, and the stupidity of wishing for simpler times. Byrne offers no solutions, just a deadly insight into the sometimes pathetic weakness of human nature when faced with an impossible choice.

As for the music, with the Heads in their final world-music stage, their post-punk turns into a very mature post-ethnic sound, and the repeated double guitar tweaks in the solo near the end still make me shiver like spinal shots.

It's Just Great! | Reviewer: Camille Marie | 4/16/07

I believe the song is very funny! It's making fun of what modern times have become! I think it's telling us to go back to Nature! We live in a very material culture, and I think we need to remember this beautiful world we have before us!

no joke | Reviewer: NBZax | 3/20/07

it's a commentary on the evolution of human consciousness. The 20th century man is the "caveman" frozen in ice, awakened in the changed future where man's awareness has evolved.

Where's the joke? | Reviewer: Greg Todd | 8/27/06

This post-apochalytic tune is simply not funnny. It's a sad commentary to me on how much everyone is ignoring what should be obvious to all: the party is over.

Nothing But Flowers | Reviewer: Ashley Monday | 2/21/05

"Nothing But Flowers" is a great song with an inverse societal twist. When David Byrne sings "This was a discount store, now its turned into a cornfield" you should definitely get the joke.
