I'm an atheist, and I like this song | Reviewer: James | 4/18/11
It's a great song. With respect to Chrissy, that may all be true...Well, the definiation, anyway, but I never listen to the song that way. To me, the song is about this girl the singer had a relationship with, but she just wasn't that good of a person. Nothing religious crosses my mind when I listen to this song.

i checked urban dictionary to know the meaning about "divine intervention". It's said that "divine intervention" means when the hands of God save you from life-threatening situation; when someone is put as a catalyst to save you from it.
to me, i think it applies perfectly to the song. since it mentioned "act of God" couple times, i assumed that this has something to do with religion. I read somewhere else about "my blue heaven" has something to do with Adam Lazzara's religious belief (mentioned on Fuze TV).
i think a person in this song is bounded by sin ("despondent, distracted, you'r vicious and romantic"; maybe by sexual sin). and as we all know, we are stubborn and always refuse to do what God wants; we want to go by our own way, do all things as we like without thinking about consequences. then when this person run back to God and asks for forgiveness, God will always forgive no matter when or where. He pours down all the love and mercy to this person. then he realize that God has something real that the world cannot offer to him. something last forever and never disappoint him. he, then, turns his way from the sinful nature to do God's will (an act of God) because he knows that nothing less will be accepted. God demands (perfect) holy life from His followers. So when he's asked to not to follow God, he wants to be counted out. he knows that in God, he'll rest assure.
Tbs are love | Reviewer: Grace | 6/14/10
I think, personally, that he is saying that he loves her but that he wants - or even needs - something simple or normal. But she can't give him that, because when they're together, their relationship is out of control and dramatic. She's too different and 'special', I guess.
I completely relate to that.

How can no one have written anything about this song? It's absolutely amazing, I love it.
The music and lyrics give it such a strong meaning, even if you don't know what it's about.
I've been trying to figure out the story behind it for so long, but all I can come up with is this.
It sounds like he is almost disappointed in somebody and the way things have turned out for them. It sounds as though in the first verse he is saying what he loves about her, and in the second what he doesn't like about her. It's almost as though she keeps on coming around and ends up disappointing him in the end, so this time he's saying don't come back around ("So if you're calling me out, then count me out.")
Also to help you out a bit more, the words "Divine Intervention" means (as some christians say) a miracle from God where God turns a bad situation into something good. Others say it is just a situation that turns itself around. I think that is made evident in this song when he says "An act of God and nothing less will be accepted".
I guess he's saying when you do come back around, why won't you make it timeless? Why won't you make it a good memory instead of making in a bad one?
I'm not sure, but thats just what I think it's about =]
Very well done TBS! Can't wait to see you's at Soundwave and I hope you's play this song
