me and my best friend were riding to a party friday night and we had cds on mix this song came on and he said listen and think how much it sounds like me in ways i started crying because he grew up in the streets and i was best friends with his lil sis(shes my age) when she moved and and his grandpa got sick... me and him got really close he has been like my brother all my life and he always will be i ran with his boys and they all knew me by name and protected me like i was their own lil sis. but i always knew that the things that went on were dangerous and i worried about him i still jump in the middle of the night when the phone rings casue we have lost friends to the streets and my worst fear is that one night it wont be his voice on the other end telling me that something bad had happened that it will be jimmy or one of the others telling me to come quick he wasnt ok but he has grew away from that life with the birth of his son but once your part of the streets you never really completely leave it behind but this song makes me think about what life is really like and how much i love him
its hard | Reviewer: Suzannah | 6/4/09
i lost my brother to gang violence, i got left with his 'homies' it isn't all about guns and violence and who has the strongest gang. there is a hell of a lot more to it than that. they really is like family man, i had boys come to the funeral that were on "the other side" they have a hell of a lot of respect for each other, they don't want their boys, their brothers, to die, and all you white people can learn from this brotherhood, sisterhood, family shit. one goes down we all do, win together lose together we there for each other, now this song really shows how most of it is out here on the streets, sure we don't got much money or fancy shit but we get by, we look after each other, and i cry when i hear this song all the time because if there is one thing i regret is that maybe some how Jerome didn't have to die. and this song proves that. i dedicate this song to my brother every time i hear it and his 'family' agree with me. ya'll don't get it til you live it, and i live it and it sure as hell is hard. don't go thinking its just about racial discrimination, hell its all of us in this song. i'm sure all the 'real' gangsters out there feel this song too, i love this song and i love Jerome, i miss him everyday.maybe if he did give up he would have died anyway, but i know one thing for sure, and thats people all over the world have to realize we aint all that bad, i mean, we got feelings, we got emotions, we got pride, so what if we aint middle class men, we is all the same. Black, white, brown, yellow, pink.
Peace, out.

Touches the heart. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/23/09
This song is simply astonishing. It really touches the heart. This was the first song that I danced to, with a beautiful girl that I really liked. I just cant get listen to it enough.
This song truly describes our society. People are constantly putting their pride into situations and are willing to start a fight just to defend it. They dont learn from their mistakes because their pride is in the way. Watch the video and read the passage at the very beginning. People are constantly growing. And as we grow we should learn. As we learn, we should begin to think like adults, and put our childish ideals behind us.
one word. Wow. | Reviewer: Daniel. S | 4/23/09
this song is intense. I dunno bout the rest of you, but I'm Native, not quite white, and not black. and I believe this song Transcends race. Every young adult who has lived in the hood knows the true depths of this song. the intensity. the pain. and not to mention the feeling of being lost in one's own setting. both mind and body.
this song reaches through the speakers and causes a huge lump in your throat and an ache in the chest. for everyone who has lost someone in this way. or lost a loved one to the streets. whether Prostitution, Drugs, or homelessness... it crosses the gaps.
it's time for other rappers to follow T.I. and Grow up. the Thug life takes more away then it gives.

Awesome song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/3/09
First of this is a great song. I can relate to it and I'm not black, i'm Mexican. I don't think T.I is trying to get through only black people, he's trying to get through everyone, black, white, Mexican, Asian, Hispanic, etc.
But ya this song is great. I guess I like T.I so much because he reminds me of my brother who is currently in prison. I recently wrote him and told him about this song and he says that this song has helped motivate him to change for the better.
Thanks for making this song T.I and even if your in prison, I support you and wish you well.

After really reading the words of this song i cried like a baby. Being a white middle-class man, i could only imagine what the real world of a young black man must be like. Please really read and listen to this song and think before you act. There is so much more to life than fighting and a life of crime. God Bless.........
